Ethiopia’s delegation is participating in the 3rd BRICS Sherpa/Sous Sherpa Meeting, hosted in New Delhi under India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026.
Under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” Ethiopia attaches importance to the strategic deliberations aimed at advancing collective efforts towards a more effective, inclusive, equitable and balanced international order.
The meeting is expected to advance preparations for the BRICS Leaders’ Declaration, to be adopted at the BRICS Summit scheduled to take place in New Delhi on 12–13 September 2026
Honored to join the launch of Heart to Heart (H2H) Foundation’s new campaign at Jimma University.
Their mission to save 1,000 children’s with congenital heart defects has begun with 50 free life- saving surgeries in Jimma over the next two weeks. On the 1st day, 4 surgeries were performed.
H2H is a local non-profit giving these children a second chance at life.

- Professor Sasha Atari, Mr. Enzo Palumbo, and the volunteer team from Italy and other countries for performing the surgeries.

An Ethiop-Thailand Business Forum was held in Addis Ababa today, bringing together 13 Thai companies and several Ethiopian business representatives to explore opportunities for trade, investment and private-sector cooperation.
Speaking at the forum, Ambassador Dewano Khadir, Director General for Middle East, Asia and Pacific Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commended the growing bilateral relations and stressed the importance of translating the longstanding friendship between Ethiopia and Thailand into stronger economic cooperation and people-to-people ties.
Mr. Arthayudh Srisamoot, Advisor to Thailand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, on his part, expressed Thailand’s interest in further strengthening economic and diplomatic relations with Ethiopia, including the reopening of Thailand’s resident embassy in Addis Ababa. He highlighted investment opportunities in agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, healthcare, construction materials, agricultural machinery and financial services.
Representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration, Ministry of Industry and Ethiopian Investment Commission presented Ethiopia’s investment opportunities, particularly in manufacturing, as well as the Homegrown Economic Reform and the country’s favorable investment environment.
The forum highlighted Ethiopia’s strategic location, air connectivity and role as a gateway to the African market, providing Ethiopian and Thai businesses with an opportunity to build partnerships and explore concrete investment opportunities. The forum marked an important step toward deepening Ethiopia–Thailand economic relations and expanding trade and investment between the two countries.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos today held fruitful discussions with Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sihasak Phuangketkeow.
The discussions focused on further strengthening the longstanding friendship between Ethiopia and Thailand and enhancing political and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.
The Ministers exchanged views on trade and investment, air transport connectivity, and people-to-people relations, as well as on capacity building, technical cooperation, climate change, and combating human trafficking.
The Ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening linkages between the business communities of the two countries and exploring new avenues for economic partnership.
Following the discussions, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed to establish a political consultation mechanism aimed at institutionalizing bilateral cooperation, as well as to strengthen cooperation between the respective Chambers of Commerce.
The signing of the MoUs marks an important step toward translating the growing partnership between Ethiopia and Thailand into tangible areas of cooperation.
Brazil’s Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, ApexBrasil, officially inaugurated its first African office in Addis Ababa, opening a new chapter in efforts to deepen economic and commercial ties between Ethiopia and Brazil.
Speaking at the inauguration, Ambassador Meles Alem, Director General for European and American Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the two countries’ shared membership in BRICS provides a strategic framework for expanding economic cooperation. He said the office would help bridge the two markets through market intelligence, reduced information barriers and business matchmaking. Ambassador Meles also highlighted agriculture and agribusiness, manufacturing, renewable energy, bioenergy, logistics and transportation as key areas of potential cooperation.
ApexBrasil President Laudemir Muller said the permanent presence in Addis Ababa would help remove information barriers for investors, provide localized market intelligence and facilitate B2B matchmaking, creating a strategic hub for Brazilian enterprises seeking opportunities in Ethiopia and the wider region.
Commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission Zeleke Temesgen underscored Ethiopia’s commitment to global economic integration and attracting international investment. The speakers stressed the importance of sustained institutional engagement and stronger private-sector participation in translating bilateral relations into concrete economic partnerships.
The office will support investment promotion, trade missions, market intelligence and business matchmaking, connecting Brazilian businesses with opportunities in Ethiopia and the wider African market.
