One of the largest private comic transactions in hobby history has just been completed and it involves two of the most important books ever printed.

A Batman #1 CGC 9.4 has reportedly sold for $6,000,000, paired with a Superman #1 CGC 8.5 that brought $7,000,000, totaling a staggering $13M private sale brokered by Heritage Auctions in collaboration with Semper Fi Comics.

These aren’t just high-grade Golden Age keys, they’re two of the most culturally significant comic books ever produced:

• Batman #1 (1940) – First solo Batman title, introducing the Joker & Catwoman. A CGC 9.4 is ultra-elite, sitting near the top of the census for a book that defined Gotham’s legacy.

• Superman #1 (1939) – The Man of Steel’s first self-titled issue and one of the most important superhero publications in existence. An 8.5 Mile High pedigree copy places it among the hobby’s finest surviving examples.

This sale comes on the heels of the recent $15M sale of Action Comics #1, further cementing the book’s blue-chip status among not just comic collectors, but global investors and institutions.
