An Urgent Appeal from the People of Kurdistan: Stop the Execution of Five Kurdish Men in Iran
We, the people of Kurdistan, write this letter not only as the voice of an oppressed nation, but as witnesses to the repeated cycle of injustice — with urgency, with anger, and with a conscience too heavy to remain silent in the face of killings carried out under the guise of lawlessness.
Five Kurdish men — Soran Ghasemi, Kaveh Salehi, Pezhman Soltani, Rezgar Beigzadeh Babamiri, and Teyfour Salimi Babamiri — all from the city of Bokan in Eastern Kurdistan (within the geographic borders of Iran), have been sentenced to death a total of 12 times by the Revolutionary Court of the Islamic Republic of Iran. These men now face imminent execution — not because any real crime has been proven, but because they belong to a people whose identity and dignity are seen as a threat by a repressive regime.
These sentences were not the outcome of fair trials, but of closed-door sessions held in secrecy. The accused were denied access to independent lawyers, denied the opportunity to defend themselves, and charged based on baseless, unsubstantiated, and politically motivated accusations.
This is not justice.
This is a calculated act of political revenge — a deliberate message from a regime that seeks to instill fear among the Kurdish people in order to deflect from its geopolitical failures, including its confrontations with Israel.
At this moment, the silence of the international community amounts to complicity.
The time to act is now — before five more voices are permanently silenced. Before more Kurdish lives fall victim to oppression and injustice.
We urge you to:
•Unequivocally condemn these death sentences.
•Use all diplomatic means to pressure the Islamic Republic of Iran to halt the executions immediately.
•Activate and engage United Nations special mechanisms such as the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran.
•Support independent investigations into the systematic use of the death penalty against oppressed nations, especially the Kurdish people.
This is not just about Kurds.
This is a human issue. A global issue. A test of our shared values.
Please do not allow the Islamic Republic of Iran to carry out this crime under the shadow of the world’s indifference.
Do not stay silent. Act now. Human lives are at risk.

RT please: Deeply disturbed that #LeilaPashaei and 3 other women were kidnapped on March 8 by Iran’s intelligence forces, tortured to extract forced confessions, and have now disappeared. The silence is deafening. I call on human rights organisations and world leaders to demand immediate access and pressure the Islamic Republic of Iran to end this brutality and save their lives. #FreeLeila #womensrights
