@edfischman@musserryan Trees cut for firewood, pasture land, and building lumber. Plus supply chains were way more regional so people used what was local.
Theres been lots of speculation about whether the new blue bottom of the Reflecting Pool will still… well… reflect.
It seems like the answer is yes.
@CityCast_DC
@pjaicomo Yeah it depends on the org, but for most if you make over like a $5k personal purchase it needs to be reported within a week. It’s an anti-corruption thing, making sure you’re not getting bribed. If not and a life style shift is observed it’ll trigger an internal investigation.
@pjaicomo I know multiple who have. Whether it be normal models or unit watches. It’s not hard to put away $5k a year to save up. With the financial reporting reqs most SA’s don’t carry much if any debt so this stuff is within reach - but a purchase like this needs to be reported to SecD.
@MoreOrLessAMess Really what needs to happen in this case is the cop needs to be added to his states Giglio violation list for lying under oath in sworn testimony. Being Giglio’ed as law enforcement is a career killer on a federal level.
@UtahFlatRanger If you were involved in defense contracting I’d highly encourage you to call the DoW IG or submit a tip email. They’d most likely be highly interested in these irregularities.
@PinstripeBungle The USG tried really hard to provide insightful analysis to policy makers and to get off ramping options to State & Local authorities for subjects. The big issue is the threat was never taken seriously and the offices that handed the threat in DHS I&A/CP3 and FBI got shut down.
@captgouda24 The 66, 495, and 395 express lanes were all constructed/maintained using private funds, VA sold the rights to a private firm for like a 50 year term before they revert to state property. They charge what they do as they try and make back their seed money and a profit.
@Levitt_Matt That looks like one canceled US Tourist passport and two Lebanese Tourist passport with “sleeve covers” designed to imitate a US passport’s cover style.
A tough reminder that there are a group of unique Americans who operate in the shadows with no fanfare, who selflessly answer the bell time and again, and go places under significant risk ultimately to help protect their fellow citizens. RIP to former colleagues.
@MinuteofZombie So watched the live stream of this event put on by the Hayden Center last week, toward the end of it one of the speakers casually dropped that Russian Alpha or Vympel units (I forget which one) are known to be operating on US soil.

@cb_doge The more likely scenario is that someone (one of the other airline employees) was an informant. Blaming WhatsApp is deflection to protect their source.
“if you don’t do your job properly, these specific people will die. look at their faces.” is a safety message that should be used more often. it at least worked this time
