I gained twenty pounds during COVID and felt awful about it. Then a good friend told me "maybe just dress the body you have and stop worrying about it." So I finally went and bought new pants. I'm very grateful for having such good friends... and also for these bigger pants.
@justinbaragona CPS is already backlogged, overworked and slow. This often leaves kids in potentially dangerous situations or claims uninvestigated. If their hotlines get clogged up with a bunch of trolls... a child could potentially die from actual child abuse
@GregLeding Is the legislature responsible for the impending hike in teachers’ health insurance premiums? And if so, how are they justifying that after our state government sent us back in person on the frontlines of the pandemic this past year?
So AR teachers taught in-person all school year long on the front lines of a pandemic (bc the Gov literally forced us to open). Now, the state is increasing in our premiums by 62% bc the fund needs more $ to stay solvent. Pretty strange way to say ‘thank you’. #arlegislature
I’m absorbing my sons faces as they take in & talk to us abt the deaths of #DaunteWright & @TonyEvansJr1- young black men around the same age.
My husband & I have held them close, had hard but necessary discussions & prayed together for these families.
The loss.
My heart aches.
AR HB 1749 (a bill requiring Arkansas teachers to call students by the name stated on their birth certificate) is such a waste of time and money— a thread from an AR teacher:
@M41771848 It’s less about kids with old-fashioned names and more about preventing trans kids from being called by a different name than what’s on their birth certificate. There’s a nickname clause that apparently lets kids with embarrassing family names off the hook.
@SilvoliteV2 There is a ‘nickname provision’ whatever that means bc the intent was just that trans kids can’t go by another name other than their given name 🙄
