BREAKING NEWS: There is no such thing as the US war against terrorism, only a US war for geostrategic domination of the most oil-rich region on Earth and the vitally important shipping and transportation routes that run through it.
In reality, the posturing and maneuvering on all sides over the stimulus check is to evade discussing what is really required and what all of them oppose: the shutdown of non-essential production with *full income* for all workers. This is what is needed to save lives.
@iGotBadTakes @MikeKofiA Isn't there a shared methodology? All have suppressed dissent through incarceration, execution and assassination. The class interests served is a question of ends, not of means or method.
@iGotBadTakes @MikeKofiA True. But it certainly does apply to say Saudi Arabia.
I'd argue that a proper application of the term would show that it could be frequently applied to Western countries as well. That said, and you'd disagree with this part, its application to the USSR under Stalin is correct.
@iGotBadTakes @MikeKofiA I mean, only if you define authoritarian as the exercise of any authority by the state whatsoever. If you define it according to the common usage, a state which infringes upon personal liberty to maintain dictatorship, then he literally says nothing about that in his three pages.

@jennyjenli @grumpybirdieS If your point is that US media, in a country that regularly kettles protestors and targets whistleblowers, has no moral high ground from which to criticize Chinese suppression of dissent, with that I would agree.
@jennyjenli @grumpybirdieS It's very clear that China has handled covid far better than Western nations. But the US is a clusterfuck because of the deliberate policies of the US ruling class (the back-to-work/back-to-school campaigns), not because individual citizens promoted bad ideas on social media.
@wrkclasshistory Lincoln, against enormous political pressure, also reversed 265 of the death sentences. The Minnesota governor, army generals and the US Senate were calling for more than 300 executions. Absent Lincoln's intervention, the death toll would have been far higher.
@MikeKofiA And hence the long-standing Federal target of 5% unemployment. The government actually tries to make sure that one out of 20 of us can't find work :(
What lessons have we learned from the Holocaust when the person nominated to head the most important Holocaust museum in #Israel advocates “expelling” an entire population of people because they are a “cancer”? https://t.co/FdFth9JOID
