Newcomers to Bitcoin may not understand why old timers care so much about Ross Ulbricht. Let me explain.

He embodied the ethos of early Bitcoin more than anyone. He was an entrepreneur who created a thriving marketplace.

He believed in radical freedom, including the freedom to trade anything with anyone else so long as it was peaceful and voluntary.

He regularly wrote about his views on freedom and why he built the first truly successful Bitcoin business - the Silk Road. He wanted to created a better world and believed his principles deeply.

Politicians like Schumer targeted both Silk Road AND Bitcoin as criminal enterprises that needed to be shut down.

When he was convicted the judge and the establishment threw the book at him. He was a first time, non violent criminal and they locked him up and effectively threw away the key.

In the early Bitcoin community we all felt how unjust this was. It was like they were locking up one of our own out of spite for what we all believed was a peaceful revolution.

Now tens of millions of people own Bitcoin and many just because of Number Go Up. Never forget there was a deeper purpose here and that getting rich is a nice side effect of that greater purpose.

Fix the money, fix the world.

Hoje, na hora do almoço, enquanto desfrutava do meu café habitual (e do cigarro que sei que não devia fumar 😅), dei por mim sem isqueiro. Pedi a um cliente que lá estava, com uns 20 e poucos anos, que me fornecesse o dele, e ele, com dois isqueiros no bolso, ofereceu-me um.

Vendo ali uma oportunidade de ouro, perguntei se podia pagar-lhe pelo isqueiro. Ele recusou, mas eu insisti!

Em apenas 10 minutos, criamos uma wallet para ele. Expliquei-lhe os conceitos básicos de cripto, a importância da seed phrase, e como funciona o sistema de pagamentos P2P.

Mostrei-lhe que com aquele 1$ em Solana (transferido durante o dip de hoje), ele poderia usá-lo para realizar transações diretas, sem intermediários, ou até investir, abrindo-lhe os olhos para um mundo financeiro descentralizado.

Já não é a primeira oportunidade que aproveito, este ano (8 dias) já foi a 3ª vez que o faço e estando no dia de hoje tudo a recuar em relação a cotações, acredito que possa despertar nos próximos tempos o interesse nem que seja em "fiat term".

Falei-lhe sobre as possibilidades: podia comprar algo online, converter para outra moeda, ou simplesmente guardar para ver como cresce. A ideia era fazê-lo perceber a liberdade e o potencial que a cripto oferece.

Para quem critica a escolha da moeda, digo: não interessa qual o ativo usado para introduzir alguém em crypto.

Não devemos chamar "shitcoiner" a ninguém. O importante é a fase inicial de aprendizagem, onde um dia compreenderão a diferença entre uma "reserva de valor" e ativos mais especulativos.

Cada pessoa que educamos sobre cripto é um passo em direção a um futuro financeiro mais inclusivo e educado. Vamos semear conhecimento, não julgamento! 🌱🚀💡
