Daly who was at the meeting said Marshall Sahlins also decried book burning and the motion was easily defeated. This contradicts some accounts that the motion nearly passed and Mead alone saved the day.

This will wreck US science. Sweeping new legislation is proposed: the government can cancel grants at any time, peer review is advisory, political appointees judge whether the research advances the president’ policy priorities, etc.

Apparently, autoethnography is becoming more popular in anthropology- what a shame. That said, I wonder if one could get funded for doing autoethnography or research on one's self? Could you charge informant fees to yourself, etc.?

@JasonColavito It seems to me that your term "anti-trans activist" seems to be typical extremism. As far as I can tell Shermer is for full rights and non-discrimination. He is most concerned about bathrooms, sports, and reasonable concerns about safe places for biological women.
