Critical infrastructure - like this paediatric hospital - has been destroyed in Gaza. Thousands of children have been left without vital health services.
@UNICEFpalestine’s Hamish Young outlines our efforts to access and recover medical equipment, and reiterates the need to protect hospitals and all civilian infrastructure.
Yesterday, @UNICEF delivered urgently needed hygiene supplies to hospitals & health centres in #Gaza City, & visited ICU wards where doctors & nurses care for premature babies struggling for their lives.
We are on the ground supporting, but #children need a ceasefire.
"We're bringing baby food... nutritional supplies for malnourished children. Do you really think anyone wants to divert that?"
UNICEF's Hamish Young tells @krishgm the aid delivery system in Gaza is "chaotic and uncontrolled."

🚨508 pallets of life-saving nutrition supplies reached @UNICEF’s warehouse in #Gaza yesterday.
This is vastly insufficient. Children are in urgent need of food, water, and protection.
As intense bombardments continue, children keep being killed and injured.
Children in Gaza continue to be killed, injured and deprived of aid. The few trucks that have entered with life-saving supplies are nowhere near sufficient and have yet to reach those in desperate need.
We're running out of supplies inside Gaza, and we're running out of time.
It is unconscionable that over 45 children have reportedly been killed in airstrikes in Gaza in two days.
This should shock the world but is largely met with indifference.
Nowhere is safe for children in Gaza. This horror must stop.
World must act with urgency to save Palestinians in Gaza, top UN top officials say | United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs - Occupied Palestinian Territory
The lives of one million children are at stake.
No aid has been allowed into the #Gaza Strip since 2 March 2025, leading to shortages of food, safe water, shelter, and medical supplies.
Without these essentials, malnutrition, diseases and other preventable conditions will likely surge, leading to an increase in preventable child deaths.
The ceasefire must be reinstated and sustained and international humanitarian law must be respected, including allowing humanitarian aid in immediately.
Once a lifeline for thousands, Kamal Adwan Hospital in #Gaza now stands in ruins. Yet, healthcare workers keep fighting to save lives.
💙With support from donors @UNICEF is delivering vital aid, but much more is needed.

Families returning to northern #Gaza are shocked by the scale of destruction.
UNICEF’s Tess Ingram shares the reality on the ground and the immense challenges people are facing.
Over the past year, more than 2.5 million people have benefited from the response activities of Health Cluster partners.
As the conflict in #Gaza continues, the humanitarian health needs remain critical.
In 2024, the Health Cluster has delivered:
⚕️9 million primary healthcare consultations
🩻 476,000 trauma and emergency-related
interventions
📦$114 million worth of health supplies and equipment
An immediate and sustained #ceasefire is urgently needed. Continued commitment to addressing humanitarian needs in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank is also essential.
Islam was only 11 when he died of leukaemia this month, just days after his mother shared his story.
Six requests for his medical evacuation from Gaza were denied.
Children are being deprived of medical care, which is a basic human right.
Horrific scenes from Rufaida school in #Gaza where many mothers and children queuing at a malnutrition treatment point were killed and injured in an airstrike today.
At least two health staff of @UNICEF partner were also killed.
Our deepest condolences to the families and their loved one.
This attack serves as yet another stark reminder of the immense toll being inflicted on children and mothers in Gaza. They are not targets; they must be protected at all times.
These attacks against children must stop now.
.@UNICEF humanitarian staff are delivering under extreme conditions in #Gaza.
Our colleague Fairooz stayed in the north of the #Gaza_Strip despite the bombardment and destruction.
She continues to work there every day.
Here is her story. #WorldHumanitarianDay2024
I was speaking with people in Rafah yesterday, including one of the many, many families that @UNLazzarini is talking about ... the Dad broke down in tears when telling me how hard it was being forced to move yet again ... #CeasefireNOW
Again and again.
The exodus continues.
The Israeli authorities continue to issue forced displacement orders also known as “evacuation orders”. This is forcing people in #Rafah to flee anywhere and everywhere.
Since the war began, most people in #Gaza have moved multiple times: on average once a month.
They desperately sought safety that they never found.
Some have no choice but to stay in bombed out @UNRWA shelters.
The claim of “safe zones” is false and misleading.
No place is safe in #Gaza.
Period.
.@UNICEF is urgently calling on the parties to refrain from military escalation in Rafah Governorate in Gaza where over 600K children and their families have been displaced–many of them more than once.
