This is how I wanted our Dieppe web map to look when we launched it years ago.
Unfortunately the organization that said they would help fund the web map pulled the carpet out from underneath me and I had like 5% of the budget and not personal ability to code.
But with Claude Code that changed. I now have the ability to code things I never could have imagined.
This rebuild is not just about rebuilding Dieppe though. It is a test bed for how we can make future maps interactive.
Very sorry to hear of the passing of Tim Cook.
One of Canada's best historians, his books were fantastic. He was nice enough to give me a tour of the Canadian War Museum where he was the chief historian.
A truly great Canadian.
19 years, more than 4,000 shows, 19,000 guests, and 250,000,000 views later, @TheAgenda signs off. Thank you, Ontario. And I'll see you again soon. #media#television@tvo#Ontario#journalism
🙃 Poland now has tank paintball
The battle takes place in single-seat mini tanks on a field full of obstacles — trenches, walls, and more.
It’s exactly as chaotic and fun as it sounds.

It's an episode we never wanted to do, but we knew we needed to do it.
This one is for our dear friend, Loretta Swit.
Jeff & Ryan will return with a new episode on 6/15.

We are shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our beloved Loretta Swit. We will have more to say in the coming days, but for now, we offer a heartfelt and reluctant Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen to our favorite Major.

President John F Kennedy
Address Before the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa.
May 17, 1961
Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners. And necessity has made us allies. Those whom nature hath so joined together, let no man put asunder.
What unites us is far greater than what divides us. The issues and irritants that inevitably affect all neighbors are small deed in comparison with the issues that we face together--above all the somber threat now posed to the whole neighborhood of this continent--in fact, to the whole community of nations. But our alliance is born, not of fear, but of hope. It is an alliance that advances what we are for, as well as opposes what we are against.
And so it is that when we speak of our common attitudes and relationships, Canada and the United States speak in 1961 in terms of unity. We do not seek the unanimity that comes to those who water down all issues to the lowest common denominator--or to those who conceal their differences behind fixed smiles--or to those who measure unity by standards of popularity and affection, instead of trust and respect.
We are allies. This is a partnership, not an empire. We are bound to have differences and disappointments--and we are equally bound to bring them out into the open, to settle them where they can be settled, and to respect each other's views when they cannot be settled.

On this day in 1966, the community of Bowsman, Manitoba held a parade of outhouses through the streets.
Then they burned the outhouses in a giant bonfire to celebrate the arrival of indoor plumbing.
This is the story of The Biffy Burn :)

When the War is over and the sword at last we sheathe,
I'm going to keep a jelly-fish and listen to it breathe.
When the War is over and we've finished up the show,
I'm going to plant a lemon-pip and listen to it grow. ~A.A.Milne #RemembranceSunday
Today we join Canada in observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The path to healing is a long one, but it will start with our country's collective understanding, education, and support. Together, we can build a more just future for all.
Remember folks,
Posers & fakes routinely surface at this time of year in anticipation of having their egos stroked by unknowing school children. School Admins must ensure that anyone speaking to their students be properly screened and have their bonafides confirmed. SVC
Today on Police and Peace Officers' National Memorial Day, we take a moment to pause and reflect on the selfless dedication of peace officers and police who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep their communities safe.
