@janoldenburg@MightyCasey Casey, you did so much for so many people without expecting anything in return. You believed in patient rights, and you have inspired us all. Rest peacefully. We miss you.

@MightyCasey@dgelles@AnandWrites Needs to be more examination by the media of business models. Who gets paid, who doesn’t, how much for doing what. Always follow the money. (Eg The societal effect of a $ earned by selling customer data is not the same as earning a $ by selling an actual product or service).
What if rabid anti-abortion Texans SUBPOENA data from period trackers to hunt down who MIGHT have had abortions, even by pill? #SurveillanceCapitalism is getting really ugly; now it could get viciously invasive. FIGHT BACK! Demand protection & PRIVACY! https://t.co/c6edEDQWjC
@ePatientDave It is an OUTRAGE that invasive people can increasingly do harm to you using your most intimate data and you can't do a THING with YOUR data! Sovereignty is way to FIGHT BACK. Learn more https://t.co/StDlFhIOme @MightyCasey
The Sovereignty Network is now live on Kickstarter! https://t.co/ihpYykLHu9 Take a look at the video describing the project and how we help patients become "Data Owners", around the world.
Thank u for helping spread the word!
I've had a gigantic objection for years to "provider" & "payer" because they are 100% oriented around the *business* of care: who "provides" it and who pays for it. This is the Satan of what the US health system has become ... even if good people doing it don't realize it 1/n
As we began talking through the acquisition, and made our stance very clear:
- No mining user data
- No ads (ever)
- No cross-platform tracking
FB and their management agreed and we thought they believed in our mission.
@MightyCasey This is (one of) the problems of the ad driven ecosystem, now that data itself is more valuable than ads themselves. (Was not the case 20 years ago).
If you want to help patients & families around the world get & own a copy of their health data, you have to be global from Day 1. We worked to ensure that if can work in rural Rwanda with Community Health Workers & patients, it could work anywhere. #patientdata#healthdata (1/4)
it's not twitter that's broken, it's the internet. at every step of the way we've let the digital commons be overrun by corporate interest and now we stand inside each of our fenced off spaces yelling across the divide, hoping it's better in someone else's pasture.
