Former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Conversation with His Lawyers and the Media Team in Adiala Jail on January 25, 2025
“The government of ‘orderlies’ [subservient to the military establishment] is continuously avoiding the establishment of a judicial commission because they know that the events of May 9th (2023) were orchestrated by the establishment itself. They committed arson and tampered with the CCTV footage. They got me abducted from the court only because they anticipated a public reaction and sought to manipulate public emotions to achieve their nefarious objectives. A peaceful protest was turned into a false flag operation by planting their agents. Thousands of our leaders and workers were abducted and tortured under the guise of May 9th. The tactic was devised where our people were abducted and then forced into giving statements against PTI and leaving the party. 16 of our workers were martyred, and four were left disabled. Despite these injustices inflicted upon us, fake cases were filed against us. The entire drama of May 9th was staged to crush PTI and instill fear so people would abandon the party. However, the narrative of May 9th collapsed on February 8th (2024) when despite all restrictions, PTI clean swept the elections. The elections were postponed with the aim of using false propaganda to discredit PTI amongst the masses, but they failed. Similarly, November 26th (2024) was used to instill fear and stop peaceful protesters from raising their voices. Our call on November 26th was for the restoration of democratic values in the country, but the government and establishment stained their hands with blood by opening fire on innocent, unarmed protesters. November 26th was yet another attempt to crush PTI.
The puppet government has dealt a severe blow to democracy, stripping the public of their fundamental rights. The PECA Amendment Act is another link in this chain. First, the independent media was silenced — (journalist) Arshad Sharif was killed, (other) journalists were abducted and tortured, and social media was restricted. Now, the Form 47 (electoral fraud) government has passed a draconian law to stifle freedom of expression. Amendments to PECA laws were made to suppress political dissent, an act that deserves the strongest condemnation. Democracy cannot thrive without an independent judiciary, rule of law, and freedom of expression. This illegitimate assembly has done nothing but pass laws attacking democracy, such as the 26th Constitutional Amendment or the PECA Amendment Act. The 26th Amendment was aimed at extending the tenure of the Chief of Army Staff, and they feared that election fraud would be exposed if the judiciary remained independent. Judicial autonomy has been sacrificed for personal gains.
Prepare to observe a nationwide ‘Black Day’ on February 8th. Public mandate was stolen on this day, just like it was in 1971. People from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Punjab should gather in Swabi for protests, while others must hold demonstrations in their respective cities. Overseas Pakistanis should also raise their voices across the globe on this day. Once again, I urge overseas Pakistanis to continue their boycott of foreign currency remittances. Sending money to this government strengthens the very hands that are tightening the noose around your necks.
We will engage with all political parties in Pakistan for the restoration of democracy. I direct my party to expedite communications with other parties for this purpose so the public can be freed from this dictatorship masquerading as democracy.
Ali Amin Gandapur faces immense pressure in governance as Chief Minister. Therefore, we have decided that Junaid Akbar Khan, a loyal and long-serving worker of PTI, will be appointed as President of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and organizational matters will be entrusted to him.”
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Important Conversation with Legal Team and Representatives of Media at Adiala Jail, January 8, 2025
“Today marks six weeks since the November 26th Tragedy, and many of our people are still missing. These individuals disappeared from D-Chowk in Islamabad, not from some remote tribal area. The government has neither produced them in court nor taken any serious measures to recover them. This clearly reflects the government’s lack of seriousness regarding our demands and the negotiation process. We have formed a committee, led by Senior Lawyer Qazi Anwar, on the issue of missing persons.
We strongly demand a transparent and independent investigation into November 26th massacre, where live ammunition was fired on our people, martyring 14 and injuring 64. Instead of conducting investigations, the victims are being harassed. For instance, our 17-year-old worker, Anees Shehzad Satti, from Kotli Sattian, was martyred, and his grieving family was harassed to withdraw their case. This is similar to May 9th (2023) when bullets were fired at us, 16 of our people were martyred, and unarmed, peaceful citizens were labeled terrorists. The sanctity of their homes was desecrated, innocent people were unjustly imprisoned, and their lives were devastated. My residence was also vandalized. A transparent judicial commission to inquire into the tragedies of May 9th and November 26th is imperative. I will not let this matter be forgotten until the victims get justice!
My demands are legitimate and justified, but the government is not taking them seriously. I am not allowed to meet members of my party, which is my legal right. If the government does not form a judicial commission until the next meeting, we will discontinue the negotiation process.
I strongly condemn the campaign against Bushra Begum. Everything she’s doing is for my sake. Distractions like the Sangjani rumors are created to divert attention from the real issues. I commend Bushra Begum for reaching D-Square with party workers and supporters. I urge members of my party to raise the issue of our missing persons at every platform.
There was a plan to impose a ten-year dictatorship in Pakistan, of which two years have already passed. Judges or police officers who become a party to oppression are rewarded with promotions here. Judge Humayun Dilawar, who gave an illegal verdict against me was promoted, while judges from Rawalpindi and Sargodha, who gave fair decisions, were dismissed. Such actions have obliterated merit and rule of law in the country.
Economic progress in the country can never happen as long as the current fascist system is in place. Economic prosperity requires investment, which is impossible without institutions adhering to their boundaries and responsibilities as defined by the Constitution. Surging terrorism in the country is causing irreparable damage to the confidence of the investors. Tragically, those responsible for countering terrorism are using all their resources and energy to corner our party. It is time to rise above personal egos and temporary gains and focus on the decency and prosperity of the country”

"I have witnessed all Martial Laws imposed on Pakistan during my lifetime, including those under Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan, Zia-ul-Haq, and Musharraf. The Martial Laws under Yahya Khan and Zia-ul-Haq were the worst in Pakistan's history, where democracy was completely crushed. In this regard Musharraf was relatively liberal. What is happening in the country today in the guise of democracy can only be compared to Yahya Khan's era. In order to ensure that no one raises their voice against the ruler's transgressions, the first targets in a martial law are democracy, independent judiciary, and free media. Free media is silenced because it criticises, and the judiciary's powers are curtailed because it has the authority to take action against injustices. Under the facade of a so-called democracy, all these fascist measures are in full effect today. What kind of democracy is this where the name of the chairman of Pakistan's largest and most popular political party cannot even be mentioned in the media?
As revealed by the Hamoodur Rahman Commission report, Yahya Khan destroyed the country’s system to hold on to power. The same thing is being done today. In order to save the bogus and fraudulent government produced by Forms 47, PTI is being relentlessly crushed, and democracy, rule of law, and judicial independence are being buried. Shehbaz Sharif is nothing more than a puppet and an orderly of General Asim Munir. Even Shaukat Aziz during Musharraf's era was a more powerful prime minister because, at least, elections then did not witness the level of rigging seen in February 2024. This illegitimate but fragile group propped up by the fraudulent Forms 47 is a disgrace on the name of governance.
The Al-Qadir Trust case, like previous cases, is being dragged on only to pressure me, but I demand its immediate resolution because, just as you were exposed in the Toshakhana and the Cipher cases, the same will happen now.
The Al-Qadir case is entirely baseless and lacks any merit. I did not build a 'Bilawal House' but established a welfare institution in a remote village for the future of the nation's children. I did not, and will not gain even a single Rupee from it. The Al-Qadir Trust University is a charitable institution run through public support, just like Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospitals and Namal University.
I want to make it very clear that I will not seek an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) like Nawaz Sharif and Zardari did. I will fight my cases in the courts.
Bushra Khan has no contact with anyone. This is mere propaganda. Our negotiation committee is handling these matters. It has been six weeks since the Islamabad massacre, yet the government has made no progress in retrieving our missing persons. This highlights the government's lack of seriousness in conducting successful negotiations.
Pakistan's economy is at its worst. The growth rate is zero. Artificially controlling the exchange rate of the Dollar is not an economic achievement. Development in a country only comes through investment, and investment never comes to a country where there is no rule of law, courts are not independent, terrorism is prevalent, and genuine public representatives are in jails instead of in government. Such a country can never progress."
