Kifeya Khraim from the Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counseling (WCLAC), a Palestinian NGO, testified at the UN Commission of Inquiry hearing about Palestinian women facing systematic sexual violence and intimidation by Israeli forces, including threats to remain silent after abuse.

She described cases of sexual violence at checkpoints and during Israeli home invasions, where women were forced to strip and perform humiliating acts in front of soldiers.

Khraim also highlighted how the lack of knowledge and legal definitions makes it difficult for women to identify sexual violence. “We have women telling us that inspection devices were inserted inside them without being able to identify that as rape or sexual violence.”

The entire Israeli public has been educated for decades in the dehumanization of Palestinians, including soldiers. But Jewish-Israeli society remained silent about the phenomenon even before the war. In the first nine months of 2023, Israel killed 40 minors in the West Bank, and no one raised their voice.
