@TheSecretAcct Exactly. Inflation adjusted makes perfect sense. Had a buy a house for a family member. Lived in it for 15 years. No rent paid. Sold it for LESS than the inflation adjusted amount. But had to pay CPT on the actual increase. Yes price went up but value went down. Irksome
@richardhyland It’s a tax break. If it can’t deliver a value proposition bs a state school without tax break then it’s not a good school. The schools closing are the rubbish ones or ones that are near state paid grammars like Trafford.
@richardhyland No. Private educated kids are a small %. In Greece a high %. Only a small % forced to choose. Theres a long demographic tail of declining kids. Plenty of room. No one is banning private education. It’s become some weird politically totem that people can’t let go of.
@richardhyland I could not afford to send 5 kids to private schools in Athen even though it was only 9k euro per year. So I didn’t go. I know plenty of Greeks here. None send their kids to private schools in the uk BECAUSE the state schools are GOOD.
@richardhyland Many of my school friends did not and for denying all of those kids opportunities that they never had because the state education in the 80s was shit is a travesty to our nation and destroys generational wealth that impacts every one of us. Rich or poor.
@richardhyland Removing VAT from “charitable status” private school is not class warfare. It’s called reform. Ultimately if the prize is excellent state education for all then a few eggs need to be broken. I went to a really really shit state school. I was lucky that I still got a job.
@hereward1069@robbyyy You’re answering a different question. How can Trust tax law be reviewed and reformed? The original message YOU posted is that he’s dodging taxes. That is not correct. He’s using something that plenty of other people are doing
@hereward1069@robbyyy It’s just politics of not being born rich. I’m no fan of how the upper class grabbed land. But he pays his tax. Anyone can set up a trust if they want to. If you don’t lose control of your land to the trust. So where is the beef
@MrJimmyGlitter1@bphillipsonMP@grok But what is the long term number of pupils!. No need to hire teachers for no kids. We’re in a proof of long term decline in kids.
