I opened my eyes to ethical investing because I care about Human Rights and Modern Slavery.
Now it's your turn to take part and open your eyes to see what the power of your money can do https://t.co/c6I3AWvXZK #AustralianEthical via @austethical
And now for something deeply personal...
My thoughts on what we get wrong about the "frog in the boiling water" analogy as it relates to #domesticviolence, via my own personal account of trying to escape a #DV relationship πΊ

@Archer64234817 @edwinampreston Why is it women's responsibility to solve the problems men are causing us...? Solve them yourselves FFS. We are already doing everything we can, and we are EXHAUSTED.
Actually, social media has revealed the crap that women have been putting up with for thousands of years. I suspect thatβs what conservatives donβt like about it. They prefer their misogyny to remain hidden.
@R_Chirgwin Yes!!!! I HATE when schools or whatever put out statements like "this does not reflect the values of INSERT INSTITUTION KNOWN FOR DOING THIS SHIT HERE".
Umm, yes, buddy. Yes it does. That's the entire problem right there.
@frankeyboi96@Brody93066129 Literally no one is "supporting the destruction of innocence until proven guilty". And those words are fundamental in a court room setting only, not society at large.
To be consistent, we need to apply that assumption of truthfulness to victims too.
But we don't, do we?
@ricphillips @jotaman37 Thanks π This isn't my first rodeo haha I was also surprised by how basic and disprovable most people's crappy "what abouts" actually were π€·ββοΈ
Like when we speak out about the gender pay gap or workplace sexual harassment, and we're told to be grateful we're not being stoned π The message is: because we could do it to you, you know. We always could.
@Idealaw @R_Chirgwin@jessradio What I find most fascinating about the book (aside from EVERYTHING) is the chapter which outlines the exact steps an abusive man needs to take to genuinely stop abusing. There's so much involved & it makes my ex's shitty promises to be nicer look as pissweak as they truly were.
@Idealaw @R_Chirgwin@jessradio Omg that book was so fricken amazing!!! It made everything I'd ever experienced with my ex make sense.... but it also made a lot of my experiences with men more broadly, especially online trolls, also make sense π¬
Also def recommended reading:
@frankeyboi96@Brody93066129 He told us he is a rapist π I mean, I know you guys don't believe victims, but now you're not even believing the confessions of perpetrators? π€ That's some next level rape apologist shit right there!
Getting really tired of this narrative that it is the βnormβ that women lie about sexual assault. 2+ decades as a psych, Iβve never known of it. Pretty easy to determine if someone is lying btw & given the very high bar victims must satisfy the chances are further decreased.
@benno78 @mansizedgojira @SoundProof1001@SocialistBLM .....and yet here you are, being a rape apologist and not even realising it. Clearly we all have more work to do here.
If you genuinely want some more pointers, here is an editorial I recently wrote on the topic: https://t.co/WyVr2PS28D
