Abdullah v SSHD (UI-2022-006321). UT agrees with @AIRECentre that where deportation is contrary to EUSS rules & not justified under reg. 27 means it is “not in accordance with the law” & so any article 8 appeal succeeds. HR appeals should also be stayed to catch up with EUSS.
ANNOUNCEMENT📢
DSC's International Women's Day Celebration is back for 2024!
Every year, we bring together a diverse group of lawyers, judges, politicians, campaigners & academics to explore what more the law can do for women and girls. #IWD2024
Our panel discussions will include the use of AI to exploit women, a feminist vision of climate justice, a comparative analysis of the crime of abortion and an in conversation with @HelenaKennedyKC and @christinalamb, leading foreign correspondent and author of “Our bodies, their battlefield - what War does to Women”.
Our guest speakers include @stellacreasy, Andrea Simon, Director at End Violence Against Women, Katie de Kauwe, lawyer at Friends of the Earth, @DrEmmaMilne, Associate Professor in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice in the Durham Law School, and @tessakhan, Founder and Executive Director of Uplift, with more to be announced, including our Keynote address.
This year, we are supporting @CleanBrk as our selected charity for #IWD2024. Clean Break was founded by two women in prison who believed in the power of theatre to transform lives. They use theatre to keep the subject of women in prison on the cultural radar, helping to reveal the damage caused by the criminal justice system.
Any donations can be made to Clean Break directly: https://t.co/dDc7ye3cLD
The full agenda, speaker list and further details will be published shortly.
We hope you can join us on 2nd March for what promises to be an inspiring and action-packed day. #IWD2024 #DoughtyStWomen

An end to a longstanding depot case. UT dismisses @ukhomeoffice application for permission to appeal. Our client, a victim of trafficking, can remain & continue her life in the UK with her baby & husband. Huge thanks to @GraceLilyC for her ongoing pro bono support
Represented DV victim (& two children) refused benefits. Obvious that she met habitual residence test. DWP had number of chances to correct their error but waited until 3 months after FTT appeal issued to reverse the decision, by which time she had been evicted from her home.
Privileged to have worked with ECtHR Judge Ivana Jelić and the @airewb team on this publication, and to have been in Montenegro for its launch at the v. inspiring Gender and the Judiciary Forum this weekend
The @DWP has made a U-turn on their decision to disqualify a survivor of #humantrafficking from receiving universal credit.
Thank you so much to @AIRECentre for working with us on this! The survivor has been awarded a backdated payment of £7,000 🙌
