🚨Some professional news: After four years as associate editor @njhotline, I'm stepping into a new role as managing editor for @nationaljournal.
I'm excited for this new opportunity and to work with both the Hotline team and the Daily team.
Any tips or ideas are welcome!
President Trump’s pick to lead the nation’s response to disasters and public health crises isn’t a big fan of some pandemic countermeasures—including vaccines.
Great reporting from @Vu_Reports!!!

The NCPC preliminarily approves the plans for Trump's triumphal arch. Commissioners Cozart, Argo, and Dixon voted present. Commissioner Cash voted against. All four represent D.C.
The NCPC kicks the vote on the height of buildings act until they vote for final approval on the arch in.
Commissioners Cozart (DC Planning), Bowren (Dept. of Interior), Argo (DC Appointed), and Cash (DC Council) voted against.
One testifier said: "The arch is fascist in design. Not surprisingly, it resembles an arch Hitler wanted to build in Berlin." (He then held up images of both)
Chairman Will Scharf replied: "...I'm not sure what you think you're accomplishing."
Watching the National Capital Planning Commission hearing today on Trump's arch. So far, almost all those testifying have objected to the construction and brought up concerns around the obstructed Arlington Cemetery view.

Happy Pride! Today was a great day to celebrate the city and see a whole bunch of D.C’s Fire and EMS out and about. (And learn about DCFD’s reserve ambulances!)
Here’s all I spotted today:
New ambulance for Station 15, “We Set the Tone” in Anacostia. Home to Engine 15, Ambulance 15, Rescue Squad 3, and several other units.
What a beautiful new ambulance. We ❤️ DCFD.
One of our new @frazerbilt Ambulances poses for a few quick pictures after completing training preparation for our members. These units are a result of the Mayor and the Councils continual support of our department to #KeepThemRolling
Folks, it’s @zachblackburn23’s first day back at Hotline. He’s covering the House, so please add zblackburn @ nationaljournal dot com to your press lists!
Pride started as a riot. June marks the start of a month-long celebration of LGBTQ+ pride and it's impossible to divorce Pride Month from political action.

With data from @nytimes API, I analyzed all national+local coverage since 2000—224K articles— to see which topics in each state get covered out of proportion to the rest of the country. A portrait of how the paper of record sees America, one state per tweet, alphabetical. 👇
