An interesting detail about the Stark Law is that in 2013 congressman Stark, who wrote the law, said that he would be in favor of repealing the law and getting it back to its initial intent before the additional regulations were added. #NUR4108#W12
Hello Dr. Mason, thank you for joining our Twitter discussion this week! My question is: How do you think the creation of the COVID vaccine will translate into policy development regarding vaccine requirements? #NUR4108#M4W11
Technology is used in my policy by providing an online platform to report a nurse for suspected substance abuse. Education about substance abuse disorders can also be conducted through online courses. This helps increase pt safety by getting these nurses treatment #NUR4108#M4W10
The ANA priority I have chosen is "nurses need mental health services." This can be advanced through contacting our member of congress easily through RNAction website. It's also important for us nurses to encourage each other to seek mental health services ourselves #NUR4108#W9
The determinant of health I have chosen is health services in both access to & quality of service. RNs can advocate to improve this by providing the highest quality care possible & making sure to follow-up with patients. This falls under individual level of advocacy. #NUR4108#W8
The outcome data I would like to see post-change would be a decrease in time for both admission to transfer and discharge order to out the door. This decrease in delays would hopefully show an increase in patient outcomes and decreased clutter in the hallways. #NUR4108#M3W7
The stakeholders for my chosen policy, Substance Use Among Nurses and Nursing Students, include nursing students, nurses, health care facilities, schools of nursing, patients, and providers. #NUR4108#W6
The proposed bills work to grant advanced practice registered nurses the ability to work autonomously without previously written protocol & physician oversight. Evidence suggests APRNs can provide safe & effective care comparable to independent doctors. #NUR4108#W5#HB111#SB424
My chosen policy of Substance Use Among Nurses and Nursing Students was first approved was in the year 2016. The year that it was most recently approved was in 2017. #NUR4108#W4
The purpose of the AHRQ report is to provide strategies for reducing medical errors and increasing patient safety. If passed, the report may positively impact nursing practice by doing just that, and by including use in federally funded programs as well. #NUR4108#W3
An interesting detail about AUPHA is that it grew to what it is now after World War II, when it was realized that hospitals were in need of organized management after being neglected during the war. #NUR4108#W2
The policy that I would like to learn more about is Substance Use Among Nurses and Nursing Students; I find this interesting because this is such a controversial topic that we have only vaguely discussed, so I would love to learn more about these guidelines. #NUR4108#W1
In #NUR4108 this semester, I am looking forward to learning more about nursing policies to help me lead and enact change in my future career. I'm hoping this class will prepare me to improve health care practices and provide better patient outcomes.
