Check this short clip (4 min) where Karpathy share his insights from working with Elon Musk for a number of years.

Here are my key takeaways.
1.Elon runs the biggest startups. He likes to keep small strong technical teams with no middle managers. Elon was always a force against growth.
2.Creates a vibrant exciting place. Avoid large meetings and encourage people to walk out of meetings if you are not contributing or learning. The culture is that you are there to do your best work and less pampering.
3.He is close connected to the engineers. Spend at least 50% of his time talking directly to the teams. Finding blockers and remove them immediately.
