The biggest AI threat isn’t artificial superintelligence wiping out humanity in a fit of mechanical vengeance like some digital Old Testament God, it’s the same oligarchs and empire managers as usual inflicting the same evils and abuses as usual upon their fellow man.

We’re already presently watching the empire building AI into its killing machines and causing all kinds of horrifying problems while these technologies become more and more complex and unpredictable.

CNN reports that US military AI “almost started a war” with China when it hallucinated intelligence showing a Chinese ship transporting nuclear weapon components to Iran; US military planes were apparently already in the air preparing to attack the vessel before human intelligence picked up on the error.

A recent Pentagon report has officially concluded that an over-reliance on Palantir’s AI-powered command-and-control system Maven contributed to the bombing of a school in Minab which killed 120 children attending classes on the first day of the US-Israeli war with Iran.

We learned early on in the Gaza holocaust that the IDF was using AI to help it bomb suspected Hamas members when they are at home with their families rather than when they are out in the battlefield using a program called “Where’s Daddy?” — a bit of Israeli humor about the fact that they would be killing the children of Palestinian resistance fighters when their fathers came home.

We’re seeing politicians like Bernie Sanders voice concerns that “AI could soon be smarter than humans and function outside of our control,” but the most obvious and imminent threat right now is not that artificial intelligence will outsmart us and escape our control, it’s that it is being fully controlled by humans who are stupid and evil.

Again, we know for a fact that powerful nuclear-armed military forces are knitting AI into all their systems. We’re watching them do it, right in front of our faces. An increasingly complex and confusing element has been added to an environment of already tense and dangerous military standoffs around the world as the US and its allies work to absorb the few remaining nations who have managed to retain sovereignty into the imperial power umbrella. And yet recent weeks have seen the mass media flooded with punditry speculating about possible scenarios under which AI might perhaps wind up leading to human extinction.

We already know the most likely scenario under which AI will get us all killed. If it happens, it will be because rich and powerful sociopaths knit these technologies into war machinery that is designed for killing humans at mass scale. Duh.

These developments are unfolding in the context of a frenetic new arms race with China in which nobody’s willing to tap the brake pedal for fear of falling behind. Any talk of regulation or slowing things down before they get out of control is dismissed because the competition-based systems which currently govern human behavior have thrust us into a nightmare of constant military expansionism and brinkmanship instead of collaboration and harmony, all fueled by the fact that this paradigm makes tech plutocrats and war profiteers obscenely wealthy.

That’s clearly the most immediate existential threat that AI poses to our species right now. There’s also the only slightly less frightening threat of artificial intelligence enabling our rulers to use mass surveillance and autonomous weapons systems to stifle any revolutionary political movement before it gets off the ground, locking us into this freakish capitalist dystopia until the planet is an uninhabitable wasteland.

In any case, this isn’t a new threat. It’s the same old threat with new toys. Capitalism must end, and the empire must fall. Our very existence depends on it.

- The Haavara agreement, which broke the Jewish boycott of Nazi Germany - The collaboration of the Zionist leadership in Hungary with Eichmann, which led to the deportation and murder of hundreds of thousands of Hungarian Jews, under its leader Kastner
- Eichmann was received in Palestine as a guest of the Zionists in 1937, to discuss their joint interest in achieving the anti-Semitic plan of removing Jews from Europe
- Previously, in 1933, SS official Leopold von Mildenstein visited the Zionist colonists in Palestine, and returned to Nazi Germany with glowing reports
- And while the Nazis cracked down on most Jewish organizations, they uniquely tolerated and promoted the Zionist Federation, allowing it to continue operating because of the joint Nazi-Zionist anti-Semitic interest in promoting European Jewish emigration.
- Of course the collaboration was not limited to Nazi Germany, but infamously, the Revisionist Zionists under Jabotinsky, the direct political ancestors of Netanyahu's Likud, were given a Naval school and training facility in Civitavecchia by Mussolini.

The logic of Zionist collaboration with the Nazis and other anti-Semites is well encapsulated in Theodor Herzl's infamous statement that: "The anti-Semites will become our most dependable friends, the anti-Semitic countries our allies," as well as in David "Ben-Gurion" Grün's horrific 1938 admission: "Were I to know that all German Jewish children could be rescued by transferring them to England and only half by transfer to Palestine, I would opt for the latter, because our concern is not only the personal interest of these children, but the historic interest of the Jewish people."

The Zionists' primary interest was never protecting Jews, but establishing a nationalist settler-colony, no matter the price to Jews (and others). That remains the Zionist logic today, where the price of maintaining their settler-colony is carrying out a traditional European-style genocide and mass expulsion of the Palestinians.

It is for good reason that Zionists sought to hide or downplay this horrific and extensive history of ideological affinity and direct collaboration between the Zionists and their fellow European fascists. But they are becoming increasingly brazen, which is why they no longer bother to pretend not to be friends with the worst European far-right extremists.

💢 REPORT | Israel committed 19 ceasefire violations in Gaza on Thursday, killing one Palestinian and wounding 15 others, bringing the total documented violations since the ceasefire took effect to 4,931, according to a document shared by the Palestinian side with mediators and obtained by Drop Site News. The violations included 14 incidents of live fire and four airstrikes or shelling attacks, while two Palestinians were detained. 

🔹 Mohammad Nasser Al-Bayouk was killed in an Israeli drone strike east of the Al-Maslak area in Khan Younis. Among those wounded were three Palestinians shot while attending a tribal reconciliation ceremony in Al-Bureij camp, two wounded by Israeli quadcopter fire in Al-Nuseirat, and four wounded by quadcopter fire near the Muawiya Mosque in Rafah. 

🔹 Since the ceasefire took effect, 1,387 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks — including 297 children, 140 women, and 42 elderly people — and 4,784 wounded, nearly half of them children, women, or elderly. 

🔹 Only 35% of the agreed humanitarian and commercial aid has entered Gaza since the ceasefire began, according to the document. At Rafah, 26 travelers left Gaza and 61 people returned on Thursday, while the document says overall movement through the crossing has reached just 39.1% of the agreed level.

This week, the European Parliament passed a resolution on ‘hybrid warfare’. 470 MEPs voted in favour of it.

This resolution holds that the EU is under attack from ‘sophisticated cognitive-psychological methods’ which include ‘reflexive control, a technique rooted in Soviet military theory that introduces specific informational inputs to limit a target’s perceived choices and steer decisions toward the influencer’s strategic goals’. It holds that ‘there has been a drastic increase in cognitive warfare’ on the citizens of the EU, and that ‘the success of modern military operations and the effectiveness of public institutions increasingly depend on the control of cyberspace and on the strategic use of digital resources and information systems.’

It goes on to say defence spending in regard to ‘internal security’ is ‘equally required’; that the EU is in a state of ‘phase zero’ warfare; and that ‘existing EU foreign and security policy frameworks, calibrated for consensus-based deliberation, generate structural latency that adversaries actively exploit; whereas this in-between state demands a fundamental reassessment of EU decision-making architecture in the security and defence domain.’

It all sounds a bit insane, doesn’t it. Deeply paranoid. Dangerously paranoid.

The list of MEPs who voted in favour of this resolution is reproduced below. I’d encourage citizens to contact them to ask why they think citizens’ current discontent is rooted in ‘cognitive warfare’ rather than the manifest decline in most people’s living standards across the EU over the past number of years.

You could also ask to what degree they intend to ‘control’ and ‘strategically use’ the internet, and indeed what they envisage defence spending for ‘internal security’ will consist of - given internal security is in most EU states usually a matter for the police, and is financed through the budgets of interior ministries or departments of justice.

And why, you could ask, do they think that the power to decide by consensus on matters of war and peace should be taken away from EU governments, and who, then, do they think should be empowered to decide for all of them - and for all of us?

For Irish voters, you could ask your MEPs - highlighted below - why they’re voting in favour of the extensive cooperation between and integration of EU Member States and NATO envisaged in the resolution, since neutral Ireland is not a member of the NATO military alliance, and its public has no desire to be.
