Orbiton - The last goodbye
We Were Lost. We Were Invincible. Now, We Choose to Say Goodbye.
Let me tell you how it all began.
It was a sunny afternoon when Mike (25) turned to Hans (23) and Daniel (24) and asked, “Why isn’t there a CLMM on TON yet?”
The answers came quickly. The infrastructure wasn’t ready. The architecture was tricky. Maybe TON didn’t even need it - yet.
Then came the bold reply: “Why don’t we try building it ourselves?”
And just like that, Orbiton was born.
Fueled by pure builder spirit, the three of us dove headfirst into code. Within two weeks, our scrappy side project was beginning to take shape. And then - an unexpected twist: the Hackathon Hacker League 2024.
This was the flagship hackathon of the year on TON, drawing builders from every corner of the globe. For us, it was a chance to test whether Orbiton was on the right trajectory. But we knew our pitch needed work. Our GTM strategy was shaky. That’s when James (30) joined the team.
Four dreamers. One shot.
We traveled 1,687 kilometers to a city none of us had ever been to - Ho Chi Minh City - for the hackathon bootcamp. But things didn’t go as planned. Due to logistical hiccups, the entire event went online. So instead of exploring the city, we hunkered down for three days straight - coding, debugging, rehearsing.
Diet Coke. Pizza. Bread. Snacks. That was our fuel.
Then came pitch day. James delivered a flawless 5-minute presentation - one of the best he’d ever done in his life, he said. Confident, we shut our laptops and headed out for drinks, dreaming about at least a third-place prize to cover our travel expenses. Orbiton wasn’t polished yet, but it already felt like a smooth, user-focused DeFi miniapp.
But the miracle never came.
Not even third place.
That night, by the river in Saigon, tears fell. We were shattered. As our plane left the city, it felt like our dream had ended before it even started.
Still, we kept building.
Because building isn’t something we do. It’s who we are.
And then - it happened. Hackathon organizers reached out: Orbiton had made it to the final round.
Adrenaline surged. Hope returned. This time, we swore - we wouldn’t fail.
The ghost of our previous fall still lingered. We felt the pressure. We knew we hadn’t nailed the final pitch the way we had at bootcamp. We comforted ourselves: maybe we could win a sponsored track - maybe Dedust would recognize our work.
The announcement day arrived.
And suddenly, we won. Third place, Dedust’s track. Our call exploded into chaos.
“We won something! We actually won!”
It felt surreal - but it wasn’t over yet.
We didn’t even dare dream of winning the DeFi Unicorn Track. That felt like a prize for giants. As they announced third, then second place - other projects were called. We prepared for disappointment.
Then it happened.
“1st prize: Orbiton.”
Silence. Then disbelief. Then madness.
We raced to find each other. We jumped on our scooters and tore through the city, singing at the top of our lungs. That night, we didn’t just win a hackathon.
We ruled the world.
But the mountain doesn’t end at the summit.
Winning a hackathon is hard. But launching a real product? Infinitely harder.
We pitched to dozens of VCs. Not a single yes.
We ran campaigns, only to realize the TON community was still too small.
We applied for a TON Foundation grant - rejected. Then the grant program disappeared altogether.
https://t.co/1DA8FkG5jW became the only one who gave us hope. We applied for their grant. But again, challenges far beyond code blocked our way.
We learned our lessons the hard way:
- Great code isn’t enough. You need GTM, capital, strategic support.
- Never let failure crush your passion.
- TON has serious infrastructure pain points. 15s+ transaction finality kills UX.
- TON needs something truly different - not AI, not memes, not gamefi. Look at how Solana rode the meme wave, or Base rode the AI trend. TON needs a breakout idea.
- And when that breakout moment arrives, DeFi must be ready. DeFi is the backbone. Memes on Solana would’ve gone nowhere without Phantom, Raydium, Jupiter.
And so, today, Orbiton ends.
Not because the dream is gone. But because it’s evolving - into a new shape, a new project, a new tomorrow.
We want to thank everyone who supported us - our beloved mentor @tucq88 , TON Society @toncommunity , Josephine from TON SEA @tonssea, Dedust @dedust_io , https://t.co/1DA8FkG5jW @ston_fi Your belief meant the world.
We’ve open-sourced everything - smart contracts, frontend, backend. If you’re building a DEX on TON, or building CLMM with FunC, or improving one, take a look. Those lines of code won us first prize. They carry our pride.
This is goodbye - for now.
But we’ll see you again.
One day.
– Team Orbiton

Why You Should Learn to Use a Web3 Wallet on TON Blockchain 🛠️
If you’re stepping into DeFi on the TON Blockchain (or anywhere in Web3), a Web3 wallet is your key to the ecosystem. But why should you learn to use one, and how is it different from a “normal” wallet? Let’s break it down.
What’s a Web3 Wallet?
A Web3 wallet is a digital tool that lets you interact with blockchain networks like TON. It’s not just a place to store your crypto—it’s your gateway to DeFi, NFTs, and decentralized apps (dApps). Popular Web3 wallets for TON include Tonkeeper and MyTonWallet.
Why Learn to Use a Web3 Wallet?
Access to DeFi on TON: Want to trade on a DEX, stake tokens, or join a DAO? A Web3 wallet connects you to these dApps seamlessly. Without it, you’re locked out of the DeFi party.
Control Your Assets: With a Web3 wallet, you hold your private keys—meaning you’re in full control of your funds, not a bank or exchange. It’s true financial sovereignty.
Interact with TON’s Ecosystem: From swapping tokens on my upcoming DEX to exploring TON’s fast, scalable network, a Web3 wallet lets you dive into everything TON offers.
Security & Privacy: Web3 wallets don’t require KYC or personal info. You stay pseudonymous while transacting securely on the blockchain.
Future-Proof Yourself: Web3 is the future of the internet—learning to use a Web3 wallet now prepares you for a decentralized world.
How Is It Different from a “Normal” Wallet?
You might be thinking of a “normal” wallet as something like a custodial wallet on a centralized exchange (e.g., Binance or Coinbase). Here’s how they differ:
Custody:
Normal Wallet (Custodial): The exchange holds your funds. You don’t own the private keys, so you’re trusting them to keep your money safe. If they get hacked or freeze your account, you’re at their mercy.
Web3 Wallet (Non-Custodial): You hold the private keys (usually a 12-24 word seed phrase). Your funds are yours, stored on the blockchain—not on someone else’s server.
Functionality:
Normal Wallet: Limited to basic actions like buying, selling, or holding crypto on the exchange’s platform.
Web3 Wallet: Connects to dApps, letting you trade on DEXs, stake, vote in DAOs, or mint NFTs directly on TON Blockchain.
Access:
Normal Wallet: Restricted by the exchange’s rules—KYC, geographic limits, or downtime can block you.
Web3 Wallet: Permissionless. Anyone with an internet connection can use it to interact with TON, no matter where they are.
Security Responsibility:
Normal Wallet: The exchange handles security (and the risks). You might feel safer, but you’re not in control.
Web3 Wallet: You’re responsible for your security. Lose your seed phrase or fall for a scam, and your funds are gone. But with proper care (e.g., never sharing your seed phrase), it’s incredibly secure.
Getting Started on TON
Learning to use a Web3 wallet is easier than you think:
Download a TON-compatible wallet like Tonkeeper. Set it up with a new seed phrase (write it down and store it safely!). Connect to TON dApps—like my upcoming DEX—and start exploring DeFi.
Yes, there’s a learning curve, but the payoff is huge: you’re not just using crypto—you’re mastering the future of finance. Ready to take control on TON Blockchain? Let’s dive in! I’ll be sharing more Web3 wallet tips soon—stay tuned! 🚀 #DeFi #TONBlockchain #Web3Wallet #CryptoEducation
AMM - The Backbone of DEX
Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs) power trading in DeFi, and at their core lies the Automated Market Maker (AMM). But to appreciate why AMMs are so vital, let’s first look at how trading works on centralized exchanges (CEXs) and why blockchain needed a new solution.
Trading on CEX: The Orderbook System
On a centralized exchange like Binance or Coinbase, trading happens through an orderbook. Here’s how it works:
Buyers and sellers submit orders—e.g., “I’ll buy 1 ETH at $2,000” or “I’ll sell 1 ETH at $2,050.” The exchange matches these orders when prices align, executing the trade. But the most weakness is centralization: The exchange controls the orderbook, your funds, and the platform. If it fails, gets hacked, or freezes your account, you’re stuck. Additional, KYC requirements and geographic restrictions limit access for many users.
Trading Solution for Blockchain: Automated Market Maker (AMM)
Blockchain’s decentralized nature demanded a trading system that doesn’t rely on a central authority. That’s where AMMs come in.
An Automated Market Maker (AMM) is a smart contract that replaces the orderbook with liquidity pools—shared pools of tokens funded by users called liquidity providers (LPs). Instead of matching buyers and sellers, AMMs let you trade directly with the pool, using a mathematical formula to set prices.
Key Idea: AMMs make trading decentralized, permissionless, and always available.
How It Fits Blockchain: No middleman, no downtime, and anyone with a wallet can trade or provide liquidity.
A Very Easy Explanation of AMM: Pools and Swaps
The Pool
Think of a liquidity pool as a big bucket holding two tokens, like ETH and USDC. LPs deposit equal values of both (e.g., 10 ETH and 20,000 USDC) to create the pool. The AMM uses a formula, typically x * y = k, where:
x = amount of ETH
y = amount of USDC
k = a constant (stays the same after every trade)
This formula ensures the pool’s total value remains balanced.
Swap Example
Let’s say the pool has 10 ETH and 20,000 USDC, so 10 * 20,000 = 200,000 (k). You want to swap 1 ETH for USDC:
You add 1 ETH to the pool → x becomes 11 ETH.
To keep k = 200,000, the formula adjusts: 11 * y = 200,000 → y = 200,000 / 11 ≈ 18,181.82 USDC.
The pool gives you the difference: 20,000 - 18,181.82 = 1,818.18 USDC.
Now the pool has 11 ETH and 18,181.82 USDC, and the price has shifted slightly for the next trader.
No buyers or sellers needed—just you, the pool, and some math!
Limitations of AMM
While AMMs revolutionized DeFi, they’re not flawless:
- Impermanent Loss:
- Slippage:
- Capital Inefficiency:
These challenges have sparked innovations like Concentrated Liquidity AMMs (CLAMMs), which optimize liquidity in specific price ranges. Curious? That’s the next keyword to explore!
Stay tuned for more on AMMs, CLAMMs, and DEX mechanics! #DeFi #DEX #AMM #CryptoEducation #TON #Blockchain
New to DeFi and wondering what a DEX is? Let’s break it down.
A Decentralized Exchange (DEX) is a platform where you can trade cryptocurrencies directly with other people, all powered by blockchain technology. Unlike traditional exchanges, there’s no company or bank in the middle holding your money or setting the rules. Instead, trades happen through smart contracts—self-running bits of code on the blockchain that automatically execute when conditions are met. This setup ensures every transaction is secure, transparent, and verifiable by anyone.
So, what’s the purpose of a DEX? It’s all about putting you in charge. With a DEX, you control your funds, not a third party. It’s built to give you financial freedom, cut out unnecessary intermediaries, and make trading open to everyone, everywhere—no borders or gatekeepers required.
Now, how does it stack up against a Centralized Exchange (CEX) like @Binance or @Coinbase? Here’s where DEXs shine:
💎 Lower Fees: No middleman means cheaper trades—your money stays with you.
💎 Privacy: Most DEXs don’t ask for personal info or KYC (Know Your Customer) checks, keeping your identity yours.
💎 Full Custody: Your crypto stays in your wallet, not stored on someone else’s server. If a CEX gets hacked, your funds are at risk—DEXs avoid that.
💎 Global Access: Anyone with an internet connection can use a DEX, no matter where they are. CEXs often restrict users based on location or regulations.
💎 No Trust Needed: Smart contracts handle the work, so you don’t have to rely on a company to play fair.
A DEX isn’t just a tool—it’s a shift in how we think about finance. Want to trade on your terms, keep your privacy, and join a borderless economy? That’s what a DEX delivers. I’ll be sharing more about DEXs (including my own on TON Blockchain) in upcoming posts—stick around to learn the ropes! #DeFi #DEX #CryptoEducation
