@DanicaFinlay My brother and my dad also yell at the players and refs while watching them on TV. It's actually quite funny watching them see how heavily invested they are!
@BelangerFraiser@jgnobile@KIN110UofR Personally, I don’t consider Esports a ‘real’ sport at all. I don’t see any health benefits or the presence vigorous physical activity being carried out by the players. I don’t think it should be part of the Olympics, even if it is a growing business. #notasport
Hi class, I found this article on Competitive Eating. It is considered a sport to many! In the article it discusses “what happens to the bodies of competitive eaters.” What do you guys think of this? #sport @KIN110UofR Is this #overconformity? https://t.co/mH6QNG18bK
My recent tweet about “competitive eating” made me think about sumo wrestlers. The articles discusses What sumo eat: The sumo wrestler bulk-up diet. This sport requires the “athletes” to be overweight...? What do you think? @KIN110UofR https://t.co/tf67X6TAVa
@jgnobile@KIN110UofR I definitely agree! Sport SHOULD be benefitting the body. In some cases, different types of sports do not. This brings up my thought of sumo wrestlers. (in a separate tweet)
@tatiann86965177@KIN110UofR i think that is ridiculous. Although it is his body and his life and he can make his own decisions. I feel as though the team and doctor should have urged him to take the longer healing route. Now he lives his life with one less finger...which can possibly be a set back to things
@CarlyShamray@KIN110UofR I agree with you Carly. It shouldn’t come to the point where they must reach the end all be all in order to succeed in their sport. I definitely think there should be limits, but the ‘limits’ are different for everyone. Which is the hard part to it. #overconformity
@RobRooney4@KIN110UofR I’m not a huge fan of hockey either. I’m also not too keen on the fights within hockey. I find it very #violent and too aggressive for my liking.
@KIN110UofR On and on I keep hearing things like "people who aren't white can't be racist." Why do you think some people have this mindset, when clearly it is not true? #racism
You mention that "we should do everything we can", but, what is "everything"? I think we also get caught up with saying things like we have to change, things need to be different. But, I think addressing the issue is one thing, but taking action is another. Thoughts?
Yea I totally agree with your definition of privilege and your opinion. Do you think people who have it can be oppressed (unjust treatment/control) if it is something that one just has and didn't earn?
@hanuofr@KIN110UofR Privilege is a special right or advantage, I would say your born with it, however some people might use their privilege to their greatest advantage while others won’t. Overall minorities still usually have to work way harder for their accomplishments.
@KIN110UofR#reverseracism I was wondering if you guys believe if people are privileged (white or non minorities) can experience oppression. Is privileged something that is earned? Or do people just have it? @KIN110UofR
@KIN110UofR I think #womeninleadership roles is still uncommon because when referring back to the “likeagirl” commercial, many people still have the closed mindset about women and how they can’t excel or be dominant in sports. It’s a very sad mindset that many people still have.
@KIN110UofR Racism has been a long going issue and is present in sport. I think people think that the issue around racism seems to be improving and getting better, but, that doesn’t mean that we can eliminate and not acknowledge that it does exist and it is still a problem in society.#racism
Going off of this article and topic, it states that the “MLB needs more athletes like Jones.” Yes I agree with the headline, but I think that every sport should have more athletes like him because athletes are advocates and have a voice. They attract such a huge fan base. #Racism
@KIN110UofR Racism is something that is seen a lot in sports and continues to happen. Looking at the MLB we can see this. Adam Jones talks about some things that happened to him from being a black athlete, having things thrown at him and being called names #racism https://t.co/Lvd2n0SpWC
@KIN110UofR#sugartax would only work if it is implemented correctly and for the rightt reasons. By taxing certain items, great research and thought would have to go into these things because it essentially effects the entire community. And ensuring that the taxing isn’t ridiculously high.
@shaekurtz@KIN110UofR I think it depends on how you define “safe.” Things like base jumping makes sense as to why it is illegal. Sports with lots of contact like wrestling and football can be quite dangerous, but there are specific equipment and rules. Though, there is a fine line to what is “safe.”
