Whatever angle one chooses to read tonight’s events in the Middle East from, one thing is clear: they matter.
In my view, the key point is that Iran is testing Trump. Tehran does not trust the U.S. President and is pushing him to prove, in practice, that he can restrain Israel before any memorandum with Washington is signed.
Of course, it is also highly significant that, for the first time, Iran has struck Israel first - after two years in which the opposite had been the pattern.
The lines have shifted. So have the balances.
And right now, no one can say with any certainty where the ball will finally land.

Τελικώς τα 21 σημεία έγιναν 5 για το τέλος του Πολέμου στη #Gaza #Γαζα: 1. Ο θύλακας θα εκκενωθεί για πάντα από όπλα και την ίδια την Χαμάς 2. Η πιο κρίσιμη συνάτηση για την Μέση Ανατολή αλλά και για την ίδια την #turkey είναι αυτή που ξεκίνησε στις 18:20 με την άφιξη του @netanyahu στον @WhiteHouse . Ο @POTUS μπορεί να μιλά ανοιχτά για ελάχιστη απόσταση από μία συμφωνία για την #Gaza αλλά μία τέτοια δεν θα υπάρξει χωρίς το #israel. Είναι η τρίτη επίσκεψη Νετανιάχου μέσα σε 9 μήνες στον Λευκό Οίκο και αυτή την φορά μοιάζει προετοιμασμένος να μην «αιφνιδιαστεί» από δηλώσεις για την δημιουργία Resort στον Παλαιστινιακό θύλακα... Δεδομένα πάντως ό,τι κι να δεσμευθεί πως θα δώσει το Τελ Αβίβ θα επιχειρήσει να πάρει - βάζοντας παράλληλα μεγάλα εμπόδια στην Άγκυρα.
