@SABCNews Another suspected drug lab uncovered. Good arrest them, but where are the kingpins? These places don’t run themselves. South Africa needs to stop celebrating the small bust and start dismantling the whole network behind it.
@GovernmentZA Government also needs to stop acting like public mistrust came from nowhere. Yes, correct fake claims. But then fix Home Affairs, secure the borders and clean up corruption so people don’t have to guess what’s going on in the first place.
This is why the immigration debate keeps becoming a circus. There are legitimate problems with borders, Home Affairs and asylum processing. Then someone throws around “3 million refugees on grants” and destroys the credibility of the whole argument. Facts first.
@eNCA Funny how someone can be too unwell for the Madlanga Commission but well enough for an overseas “spiritual upliftment” trip. The excuses are getting ridiculous. Face the commission and answer the questions.
The Madlanga Commission is exposing exactly why South Africans have lost trust in the system. More than 100 witnesses, allegations of political interference, corrupt networks, compromised police officials and criminal influence inside the justice system. This is not a “few bad apples” problem anymore.
If the people meant to investigate crime are themselves compromised, who protects the public?
Enough commissions. Enough testimony. The country needs prosecutions, dismissals and real consequences.

@JacintaNgobese Secure the border properly and half this chaos disappears. Citizens should not have to go inspect border posts themselves to see whether the system is working. That is literally government’s job.
Hard truth: once people are being murdered for campaigning, politics has crossed into criminality. No party, no candidate and no election is worth someone’s life. South Africa cannot keep normalising political killings every election season.

If a party cannot run a municipality properly, it has no business asking for another five years. Struggle history, race politics, fancy slogans and social-media hype do not deliver water, electricity or clean streets. Results do.
Stop voting like a fan. Start voting like a taxpayer. 🇿🇦

Hard truths before 4 November. No party worship. No nostalgia. No excuses. Local government is about whether the taps run, roads are maintained, rubbish gets collected and public money is managed properly. Judge the record. 🧵🇿🇦

Smaller parties shouldn’t be ignored. BOSA is talking competence, clean finances and skilled appointments. RISE Mzansi is selling community-driven government and infrastructure. VF+ has a more serious municipal platform than many assume. The catch? Good manifestos are easy. Running a municipality without chaos, corruption or coalition drama is the actual test. #BOSA #RiseMzansi #VF @BuildOneSA@Rise_Mzansi@VFPlus
EFF: Big on confrontation, redistribution and radical promises. The harder question is whether that translates into stable municipalities, sound finances and reliable services. Local government needs more than speeches and disruption. It needs boring things done properly, every single day. #EFF @EFFSouthAfrica
DA: Plenty to criticise, especially for voters who strongly disagree with parts of its politics outside local government. But the governance record in Cape Town and the Western Cape is materially stronger than most of the country. In 2024/25, 20 of 30 Western Cape municipalities achieved clean audits, while Cape Town itself was among them. That record matters whether people like the party or not. That does not mean voters have to ignore serious disagreements with the party on Israel and Palestine. Competence matters. Principles matter too. Both can be true at the same time.

We’re in 2026 and people in the country’s biggest economic hub are still carrying buckets because the water system can’t keep up. Leaks, ageing pipes, poor management, illegal connections… and somehow basic service delivery keeps becoming a crisis instead of a priority. At what point do we stop accepting dysfunction as normal? 🇿🇦
