Remembering #Srebrenica.
In July 1995, 8372 Bosniaks, mainly men & boys, were brutally killed in and around Srebrenica.
The Srebrenica genocide is one of the darkest pages of European history.
We remember the victims of the #genocide in #Srebrenica and stand with their families in honouring their memory. Denial of genocide and the glorification of war criminals must be firmly condemned. By facing the past and learning from it, we safeguard a future free from violence.

Today we launched the Council of Europe Action Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina (2026–2029). This marks a new step in a partnership that has been building for over two decades.
The previous Action Plan delivered real results, from strengthening institutions to improving protection for vulnerable groups.
Now the focus is clear: implementation, effectiveness, and making rights tangible in people’s daily lives. This means independent courts, fair and inclusive elections, and a free and pluralistic media environment. At a time of geopolitical shifts, strengthening democratic security is essential.
The @coe will continue to support Bosnia and Herzegovina on this path.

Great to meet participants of the Council of Europe’s Academy for Women Candidates in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This initiative supports women preparing to run for office, with training on elections, campaigning and public speaking, and by building a network of future leaders.
A concrete step towards stronger, more representative institutions, and a result of our previous Action Plan.
Wrapping up a two-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Open and substantive exchanges with political leaders and civil society on the country’s reform path and European future.
Progress is visible, including recent commitments and engagement with Council of Europe standards. But key reforms, including constitutional and electoral ones and the execution of judgements of the ECHR remain essential to ensure equal rights for all.
The launch of the @coe Action Plan (2026–2029) marks an important step, focused on implementation, strong institutions and real protection of rights.
🇧🇦 In Sarajevo, SG @alain_berset stressed that further reforms, including constitutional ones, are essential for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s democratic future, marking the launch of the new Council of Europe Action plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina 2026-29.

It was good to speak with @agencijafena about Bosnia and Herzegovina’s role as a member of the @coe.
Europe is diverse, and that is both a strength and a challenge. We work to bring convergence through a shared legal framework grounded in common values.

History is everywhere in the streets of Sarajevo.
Before October elections, Bosnia and Herzegovina needs a renewed political dynamic.
We will continue helping to unlock constitutional and electoral reform including through the launch of the 2026–2029 Action Plan.
And promote what works: interreligious dialogue.
@mfa_bih@DinoKonakovic, see you in Chișinău, 14–15 May.
Meeting members of both chambers of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the country’s delegation to @PACE_NEWS, it was encouraging to see people with diverging views sitting at the same table.
In a time of geopolitical shifts, this dialogue must lead to stability and long-term peace for future generations.
Met with Mr Bećirović, Mr Komšić and Ms Cvijanović of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We took stock of progress made and the reforms still required. What is needed now is an immediate and credible roadmap for implementation, backed by concrete action under the Council of Europe Action Plan.
🇧🇦 Foreign Minister @dinokonakovic met with Secretary General of the @coe, @alain_berset, welcoming his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina as a strong and encouraging signal of support for the country’s reform agenda and European path.
Minister Konaković briefed on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighting constitutional complexities that slow the European path, and expressed gratitude for the continued support and principled engagement of the Council of Europe, reaffirming Bosnia and Herzegovina’s commitment to advancing reforms in line with European standards, democratic principles, and the rule of law.
The discussion also covered current geopolitical developments, underlining the growing importance of respect for international law and a rules-based international order. Both sides emphasized the need for strengthened cooperation and joint efforts in safeguarding these principles in times of increasing global uncertainty.
Welcome, Denis Bećirović to the Council of Europe! Thank you for our constructive discussion, your address to the Assembly, and your steadfast support for our shared European values. 🇪🇺🤝🇧🇦 #bosniaandherzogovina#PACE#CouncilofEurope
I warmly welcome today’s signature by Minister of Justice @BunozaDavor of two @coe conventions. Bosnia and Herzegovina takes an important step against trafficking in human organs and for the protection of the legal profession.
Europe’s values, put into action.
Today, we reflect on the courage and unity with which the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina chose freedom, dignity, and sovereignty.
This day reminds us that independence is not only a historic achievement, but a lasting responsibility, to preserve peace and stability, protect our constitutional order and territorial integrity, and strengthen the institutions that safeguard our shared future. It calls on us to stand united and to continue building a future worthy of the generations to come.
Happy Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 🇧🇦
Bosnia and Herzegovina: I am deeply concerned by recent statements from highest political leaders in the Republika Srpska that risk fuelling hate and intolerance against Bosniaks, increasing inter-ethnic tensions and endangering peace. 👇https://t.co/gUFiEc7otu
