I’m worried by QLD’s plans to force fully-vaxxed international students into paid quarantine while citizens & other visa-holders can walk straight off the plane. This will have a discriminatory effect & send a negative signal to international students about their value here.
Leaving aside that QLD has been one of the worst in displacing Australian citizens, why would vaccinated students choose Australia to study if they are going to be put into quarantine detention upon arrival when rival countries will treat them equally?
Excellent discussions at our first in-person Quad leaders’ meeting in the US. Honoured to meet with PM @sugawitter, PM @narendramodi & @POTUS on our shared vision of a free, open & resilient Indo-Pacific region & responding to the challenges we face in a complex & changing world.
Australia & India are longstanding partners. In our meeting with 🇮🇳 Prime Minister @narendramodi, we discussed our nations' shared commitment to a rules-based international order, an open, inclusive & resilient #IndoPacific & strengthening the 🇦🇺🇮🇳 economic relationship.
My congratulations to @Lisa_Singh. She will make a great Director of the @AIinstitute. Look forward to collaborating on various initiatives and activities in our common cause to further deepen the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership 🇮🇳🇦🇺
