A woman hiking in Canada nearly became a grizzly’s next meal and the video circulating right now is genuinely one of the most intense wildlife encounters you will ever watch - her dog is with her, a massive grizzly is right there, and somehow she kept her head together long enough for both of them to walk away breathing.
That is not a small thing. Most people talk tough until nature is standing ten feet in front of them and every instinct in your body is screaming to run, and running is exactly the worst thing you can do.
Grizzlies are built to chase, they top out over 700 pounds and can cover ground faster than any human alive. The people who survive these moments are the ones who override pure fear with pure discipline and this woman did exactly that.
If you hike, camp, or spend any real time in the wilderness - bear spray is not optional, it is the difference between a story you tell and one somebody else tells about you.
Could you have kept your cool?
Hats off to her.
Canada:
Tax his land, tax his wage,
Tax his sufferance in old age.
Tax his health, tax his wealth,
Tax his business done by stealth.
Tax his car, tax his gas,
Tax the roads on which he pass.
Tax his food, tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.
Tax his house, tax his bed,
Tax the pillow under his head.
Tax his work, tax his pay,
He works for taxes half the day.
Tax his liquor, tax his smoke,
Tax him till he’s completely broke.
If he cries, tax his tears,
Tax the comfort of his years.
Tax his coffin, tax his grave,
Tax the sod in which he's laid.
When he's gone, don't relax,
It's time to collect the estate tax.
And do not let them leave without taxing it all again.
I bought a Pixel 10 Pro XL and sold my old Pixel 9, which had @GrapheneOS , to a friend. We're both using GrapheneOS now. The government has no right to spy on us.

The At Issue panel is having buyers remorse. Arrogant Carney Liberals rammed through legislation and they agree Carney's authoritarian streak is real
Raj "What happened this week is that the Liberals decided to use their majority to shut down debate and pass legislation that is very controversial"
"(Steven MacKinnon) talked about tinfoil hat people. This is not a way to bring people along. f anything, it fuels conspiracies. So there was no reason to pass these bills."
Hebert "I agree that it's unprecedented to find a government using its newly found majority not obtained at the polls to speed up or force feed nine bills to the House of Commons."
Coyne "One is it's playing to a certain stereotype, if you will, of Liberals... the besetting sin of Liberals is arrogance." @RosieBarton@althiaraj@acoyne@ChantalHbert
🚨🚨🚨 THE ALARM BELLS NEED TO BE DEAFENING !! 🚨🚨🚨
Expert after expert just testified on Bill C-22:
- Canadian Civil Liberties Association
- OpenMedia
- Signal
- Google
- Meta
All saying the same thing:
This is the most dangerous surveillance bill they’ve seen in over a decade.
They told us it was about safety and fighting crime.
What they’re actually building is more state control with zero meaningful accountability.
This isn’t “modernizing lawful access.”
This is the digital cage snapping shut — one rushed bill at a time.
If you’re still shrugging, you’re not paying attention.
Canada is building a digital surveillance apparatus so total, so invasive, and so unaccountable that it would make North Korea envious.
Bill C-22 isn’t “modernizing lawful access.”
It’s the state ordering every major tech company — Signal, Google, Meta, and beyond — to build permanent backdoors into their systems.
It’s forcing them to log who every Canadian talks to, when, and from where — for up to a year — on every app you use to bank, access healthcare, message your family, or live your private life.
It’s giving the government the power to demand encryption be broken, data deletion controls overridden, and remote access capabilities installed… all under blanket secrecy provisions so the companies can’t even tell you it happened.
Expert after expert testified under oath:
“This is the most dangerous surveillance bill I’ve seen in more than ten years.”
“A backdoor built for the good guys is simply a vulnerability waiting for the bad guys.”
“Part 2 is incompatible with the fundamental human right to privacy.”
And Carney’s Public Safety Minister is ramming it through Parliament with only three sitting days of hearings. No real debate. No proper scrutiny. Just “trust us, it’s for your safety.”
This is the quiet part said out loud: more state control, zero meaningful accountability.
C-2. C-8. C-11. C-22. C-34. C-63.
Piece by piece. Bill by bill. They are welding the digital cage shut around every Canadian.
If this passes, you don’t get privacy. You get permanent surveillance with the government holding the master key — and the legal right to lie about it.
This isn’t Canada anymore.
This is what happens when a government stops seeing citizens as free people and starts seeing them as data to be owned and monitored.
Wake up. Call your MP. Flood their phones. Scream if you have to.
Before the cage door locks for good.

The victim testimony of 'Felicity' from the Rape Gang Inquiry is the most horrifying thing I’ve read in my life.
She was 8 years old when it started…
> First assaulted just after her 8th birthday, lured into a back room on the pretext of helping put up a shelf
>Told she'd be "taken away" if she ever spoke, which was the start of years of rape and torture
>Trafficked on to groups of older Muslim men, collected by taxi after school and on church nights
>Forced to take part in the abuse of other children, used deliberately to "normalise" it and buy her silence
>Groomed with a fake love story: told a man "adored" her, that marrying him was "God's plan," and that she had to convert to Islam
>Handed a book on Islam by one of her abusers and told to learn it
Then came the captivity:
>Held in houses with an upstairs "punishment room" fitted with dog-crate enclosures
>Watched a girl accused of going to police have a hot iron pressed into her back. That girl later died. Felicity saw her strangled
>She and another girl, "Char," were both impregnated. Every pregnancy ended in miscarriage
>Later told the men had killed Char and she would "never come back"
>Saw a girl shot in front of her by a man she believed was a serving police officer
>Threatened that she'd be "chopped up and fed to pigs" if she ever told
It only escalated:
>Loaded into a van in a crate with other girls, some trafficked in from abroad to be "sold," who spoke no English
>Made to watch a girl be stabbed, beaten and set on fire for talking back to a buyer
>Hung upside down by her feet, whipped and urinated on by a man who openly idolised Fred West
>”Purchased" for a night and raped by numerous men while her main abuser sat and watched
>Forced to witness a baby tortured with cigarettes and then killed, while its mother was made to watch
And through all of it, no one believed her...
>For years she was disbelieved and dismissed, she says, treated as though she was inventing what was being done to her
>She had carried it almost entirely alone. Her statement to the Inquiry was the first time in her life she had ever been able to give a full account of what happened to her. No one before had ever properly listened
>When she finally found the courage to report one of her abusers as an adult, at 27, she was not believed
...you don't understand
SO SO SO many people need to be executed for this.

VPN companies will leave Canada. The government will force companies to retain your data for one year. The legal threshold for police access to your data will be lowered. Meanwhile, the federal government is cancelling all debate on Bill C-22, the Lawful Access Act, in order to pass this legislation before Parliament adjourns on Friday, June 19. Now, more than ever before, Canadians who care about privacy must urge their Members of Parliament to defeat Bill C-22. This is a critical moment in our history: will Canada be a free nation or a surveillance state? Canadians have defeated "lawful access" legislation before, and we must do so again.
