At the 2026 Miami Economic Forum, we hosted a timely conversation titled “Global Gateways: Miami’s Growing Role Connecting Dubai and the GCC to Latin America and Beyond.”
The panel explored Miami’s expanding role as a global hub linking the Americas with the Gulf region and other international markets.
This conversation took place just one day before the war in Iran began, followed by violence that affected several countries across the Gulf region in the days that followed. Our thoughts remain with the people of those countries during this difficult moment. We remain hopeful that stability will return soon—for the sake of the millions of people who call the region home and for the continued cooperation between global markets.
Miami has long been a place where people come in times of uncertainty—but also a place where entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators build partnerships and expand opportunity across borders.
Moderated by @haroutsamra, the discussion featured @josefelixdiaz, Yolanda Perez, and Antonio J. Lopez, exploring the rise of the Miami–GCC corridor and the growing role South Florida plays as a bridge between regions.
The conversation touched on:
• Miami as a gateway to both Latin America and the Middle East
• Key sectors attracting GCC investment, including infrastructure, energy, defense tech, digital infrastructure, and food security
• The role of sovereign wealth funds in global investment
• Why relationships and partnerships are essential when doing business in the GCC
• How Miami and Dubai function as complementary global hub cities
🌍 The conversation underscores why Miami continues to grow as a center for global trade, finance, and investment.

Miami is no longer just a gateway city — it’s a global connector.
At the 2026 Miami Economic Forum, one of our featured conversations, Global Gateways: Miami’s Growing Role Connecting Dubai and the GCC to Latin America and Beyond, will examine how Miami has become the natural bridge linking the Gulf, the United States, Latin America, and the wider Western Hemisphere.
This panel brings together leaders who actively operate across these regions:
* @josefelixdiaz, Executive Vice President, @BallardFirm
* Yolanda Perez, Senior Vice President & International Wealth Advisor, Truist Wealth
* @haroutsamra, Of Counsel, DLA Piper
* Antonio J Lopez Betancur, President, Access Global
Together, they bring perspectives spanning public policy, global finance, international law, and cross-border investment — reflecting how business truly moves between Miami, the Gulf countries, Latin America, and Europe today.
With one week to go, more than 300 business leaders, investors, policymakers, and institutions will be in the room. This is where global relationships are formed — and where Miami’s role as a world-class business hub comes into focus.
