Faith lives in the heart, not the head. That is where the Quran and the Jewish tradition meet.

This week in Surah al-Baqarah, verses 6 and 7 describe people whom no warning can reach, because God has set a seal upon their hearts. The commentators explain that a heart becomes sealed only after a person closes it, again and again.

Read that as a Jew and it sounds familiar. The Zohar says something close: the heart is the inner altar where faith either lives or is shut out. You cannot argue a closed heart into belief.
