UK AI bull case: Academic talent + deep finance.
Bear case: >50% exports are service-economy (law, etc.) + dwindling dynamism + locked-up capital.
AI compresses knowledge work. Britain’s economic model is unusually exposed.

[1/4] A milestone for electric circuitry: CircuitMind have launched their AI Power Design Automation platform, enabling you to go from PCB concept to design in just 60 seconds!
Faster time to market. Fewer respins. Smarter, cheaper, more efficient circuitry. This is deep tech doing real work in transforming a big old industry. Why this matters 🧵👇
Deep tech isn’t a buzzword. It’s the engine of human progress.
In the next decade, the world will see breakthroughs that redefine entire sectors: advanced compute, defense tech, climate resilience, and human-machine interfaces.

“Just get on and build better tech.”
Our founding partner, @andrewjscott on a recent episode of Upside.
Sometimes (particularly with deep tech) IP legal wrangling is necessary. But the truth is, you can’t sue your way to the future—build or be left behind.
IMO an under-discussed thing about AI is its ability to actually be a huge accelerant towards a world with carbon-free energy ‘too cheap to meter.’
The fact that the companies who need massive amts of net new energy *are also* the ones who have the ability to pay a premium for approaches that may still be expensive today – is what makes this different (vs, say, crypto).
Seems possible this could be the final demand pull these technologies need to get the rest of the way down the cost curve?
