From the 2025 FAA data regarding the HEMS industry:

Only 49% of flight requests result in a patient transport. ( the balance were missed due to weather, maintenance, aircraft availability etc)

Nationwide average of the 385370 patients transported were 30% scene, 70% interhospital

The average program flew 285 pts per ship per year (0.78 pts per 24 hrs)

Only 2.3% of the total HEMS hours flown in 2025 were under IFR ( vs 100% IFR for US passenger aviation)

Fatal accident rate (per 100k flight hours) has increased 46% from 0.39 in 2024 to 0.57

Well I’m in Atlanta airpt trying to get to work tomorrow but @Delta canceled my flt & can’t get me to my dest 1hr flt away till tomorrow night. I’ll miss wk costing me $ thousands. Not offered any help, hotel or options. Doesn’t feel #DiamondMedallion has gotten me much service

150 passengers got to the airport in time. Flight attendants got here. But pilots just didn’t show up??? @Delta can your service get any worse? I’m tired of not getting to my destination till the middle of the night, if at all, b/c people can’t be bothered to do their job

@Delta OMG! My 6am flight, that I got up at 2am to be a #DCA at 4am for has just deplaned…no, a mechanical, no not weather…THE PILOTS HAVEN’T SHOWED UP YET!! Confirmed with #DeltaAirlines red jacket. Pilots “assigned” but not here

@ERGoddessMD Same thing when a (not sick) patient threw a chair through the glass at triage just missing the nurses working there, just because he thought he should get seen before the STEMIs and acutely ill patients
