@CoachDave80@JustMyTakeMedia@SleeperMets@JonHeyman The 40 man roster still gets insurance if there is a lockout. No pay though. He's still 28 and could very possibly be offered a 7-10 year contract at $35-$40 mil per. Get a $20 mil signing bonus upfront to cover himself in 2027 if there's a lockout.
@JustMyTakeMedia@SleeperMets@JonHeyman Playing like crap? He just had a slow start. He leads the team in RBI & doubles. Over the last 81 games, he's batting .300 with an .803 OPS. For the season he's batting .302 with runners on & .293 with RISP. He also has 16 go ahead hits. And he's played in 127 of 128 games.
@labduk1989@flasportsbuzz Some issues? 8 felonies. That's why Detroitcut him immediately. As soon as he signs with any team, hewill be put on the Commissioners exempt list. Which means he can't practice with the team or play in any games.
@DolphinsBrawl@labduk1989@flasportsbuzz Not yet. It's been a week and they haven't signed him. They most likely won't. As soon ashe signswith a team he's going tobe put on the Commissioner'exempt list. So he wouldn't be abletp practice or play in any games.
@SeanHrycyk No it won't. Ifhe really wanted to be a Met, he would. He was still under contract that had made him the highest paid 1B in baseball at the time and 2nd highest paid 1B season in major league history. All he had to do was show up & he would stil bel a Met. He opted not to do that
@thesportsgenius Ridiculous post. Lindor was signed 6 years ago. He's played in all but 12 games over last 4 seasons combined. Semien contract when traded 3/$72 left & just won 2nd GG. Nimmo 5/$97.25, Legs shot, arm liabilty for years. Semien +1 HR . Allowed McNeil (33) trade $10mil, 8 fewer HR.
@TalkingNy@iHatejeffwilpon The rich owner thing is just an absolutely poor arguement to keep bringing up. You don't get to be richnby just trowing money at things. Coen spent the most money every year he owned the team. And it's not just contracts. Contracts double by luxury tax. Pete's already declining.
@mikemayer22 Yes it is. Mauricio has 0 options left. He will either have to make the club after this season or removed from the 40 man roster. He would need to be DFAd & clear outright waivers. Any team could claim him. Team has 7 days to trade/release/ waive him.
@metsbatflip1 Hard call due to 2 injuries. Missed all of 2024 & and the 1st 45 games of 2025 to an ACL & 45 this season to a fractured thumb. Only started 81 MLB games he past 4 years. Valuable developmental time. Just 25. But no options. Keep in AAA for 1 more legit shot with significant AB.
@MetsJoe22@metsarebest2 Yeah, they tricked Stearns into taking the better player who had just won his second gold glove that season and owed $$72 mil, so they could steal the drastically declining OF owed $97,250,000 away and allowed the Mets to unload the washed up $10 mil 2B who has 10 fewer HR.
@MetsJoe22 Nimmo is a liabilty in the field and is having worst offensive year since 2022. 3 straight 30+ HR seasons and he won't make 20 this year. He's 33 & owed $82,000,000 mil through age 37. Pete having career worst offensive #s at 31 & guaranteed $134,000,000 until he turns 36.
@MetsJoe22 Ewing only has 52 starts at 2B over his entire major & minor leagues combined. He's made 13 errors with a .941 fielding %. He's not really a 2B. He's played over 1,500 more innings in the OF. Semien currently has a .985 fielding %. And more HR than Nimmo. (In 84 fewer PA)
@GoodFundies Semien has more HR than either Nimmo or McNeil. Benge is 23 with 6 more years of control. Making $780,000. And, is a far superior defender than 33 yo Nimmo making $82 mil unti he is 37.
@finkn23 No, the fans are not ready to lose a season for a cap. There will not be a cap unless there is a floor. Many small market teams don't really want it either, because the more luxury tax being paid, the more free money they get.
@kbo_coyote@PSLToFlushing His production this year is that he got off to a slow start on a new team in a new league. Over the last 57 games, he's batted .317/.347/.463 with 6HR, 31 RB1, a .809 OPS, team leader in RBI, a .375 BAbip and a BA of .311 with runers on. He'll get $35 mil or more. Still 28 yo
@kbo_coyote@PSLToFlushing It would make a lot of sense just for the reason you said. He'll only be 29 and could easily get a 6/210 deal. Wouldn't you opt for the additional $126,000,000?
