@NavalismHQ@naval Partly yes. But it is also about being humble and knowing that there are more unknowns than knowns in any area, which is actually a sign of deeper knowledge.
@_ThirdSide_ Do not think path fwd can be only rate hikes. Upselling: 3G>4G>5G, pre to postpaid, broadband and digital TV. New subscribers (Voda > Airtel/Jio). Payments “if” they can crack. Plus some financial engineering to pay costly debt. All this will be challenging.
@Vineet_invstor @anishmoonka Agree - but book value expansion is a slow and organic process and in short to medium term, returns will be driven more by rerating of P/B multiple.
@Vineet_invstor @anishmoonka I think IDFC has potential, but not sure of 4-5x. Its P/B value is 1.1 vs. little over 3 for best-in-class banks (ICICI, Kotak). So probably it gets to P/B of about 2ish. Then there is some 20% arbitrage between buying IDFC First and IDFC. So net net 2-2.5x potential, no?
@_ThirdSide_ With few exceptions, “D2C” brands get most of their sale through marketplaces (Amazon etc). D2C are not truly “direct” to consumer. Online marketplaces are the real beneficiary of D2C phenomenon as they own customer relationships and get even bigger scale.
@menakadoshi We all wish everyone, but hardly practical given the pendency. But in cases of egregious violations of exec power, justice has to be “seen” to be done - even at a risk of being perceived as selective treatment. This case is one such case - hence late night hearing justified IMO.
@bharatbetpf Makes no sense. Actually large e-commerce players will leverage their captive investments by offering logistics-as-a-service to independent online sellers and eat into the share of 3rd party logistics.
@sandipsabharwal I heard someone say, such companies cannot have unit economics. If they get units, they do not have economics. If they get economics, there are no units :)
@menakadoshi Not apples to apples comparison. Unlike first four, Twitter is a medium - does not have an editorial view, at best it has some content moderation guidelines.
@zhr_jafri Curious about your view on SGBs as the same price movement is not reflecting in SGBs in secondary sale due to lack of liquidity? IMO 2.5% annual interest does not seem enough to compensate for lack of liquidity.
@akshayalladi @AmitMajmudar @shrikanth_krish Because myths and legends are seen as myths and legends by people with “scientific” or cynical temperament. History, howsoever distorted and subjective, comes across as more rigorous and believable - it creates an illusion of truth and therefore is more powerful.
@anandlunia Once founders take their company public ignoring markets is not an option. They can ignore routine swings but not steep corrections. Problem with “tech” IPOs (not as much Nykaa, but nearly all others) started with founders/VCs mispricing IPOs. Now chicken are coming home to roost
@banglani Most complexity in large orgs is manufactured complexity not intrinsic to a task. That what appears to you as simple email going through the hoops is the kind of (manufactured) complexity that growth/size creates.
