Campaign Sign Theft and Vandalism Escalates in Waverley West as Jasmine Brar Calls for Focus on Community Issues

WINNIPEG, MB - The campaign for city councillor in Waverley West is reporting a growing number of incidents involving sign tampering, theft, and vandalism across neighbourhoods in the ward. To date, the Jasmine Brar campaign has placed more than 900 lawn signs at the request of supportive residents. In the past week alone, more than 50 signs have been forcibly removed or stolen.

Eyewitnesses and local supporters have reported seeing a white pickup truck driving suspiciously through residential areas late at night and removing campaign signs from front yards and public boulevards.

The campaign has also documented multiple signs that were vandalized and damaged along John Angus Drive. Please see the attached photographs showing several of the affected signs.

These incidents follow earlier reports of campaign sign defacement in the ward and have raised concerns among residents about the tone of the local election. Neighbours have expressed frustration over the disruption, emphasizing that Waverley West is a safe, close-knit, and respectful community where voters expect a fair democratic process focused on the issues.

Despite these setbacks, candidate Jasmine Brar remains focused engaging directly with residents on their doorsteps to discuss local priorities, including neighbourhood safety, crime prevention, transit reliability, and long-overdue infrastructure improvements.

"Participating in the democratic process is deeply meaningful, and lawn signs are a simple, powerful way for citizens to make their voices heard and show support for the future of our neighbourhood," said Jasmine Brar. "While it is heartening to see over 900 families proudly display our message, seeing these signs taken down or damaged is disheartening. Our community deserves an election focused on real solutions - like safer streets, reliable transit, and strong representation at City Hall. I will continue working hard every single day, listening to residents and earning the privilege to serve as the next city councillor for Waverley West."

The campaign continues to deploy replacement signs while engaging voters daily across Waverley West ahead of Election Day on October 28. Residents who have witnessed sign theft, vandalism, or suspicious activity are encouraged to report incidents to local authorities.
