In a press conference upon his departure from Addis Ababa, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud strongly condemned the Ethiopian government under PM Abiy Ahmed for blatantly infringing on Somalia's sovereignty and aggressively seeking to annex its territory.
The President highlighted an incident where the convoy of H.E. President Hassan Sheikh and H.E. President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti, along with their accompanying delegations, faced forceful attempts by Ethiopian Government security personnel to prevent their entry into the summit proceedings. The regrettable incident establishes a dangerous precedent for future summits and reflects poorly on Ethiopia's reliability as a host and its commitment to upholding the values of the African Union..
Premier Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia refuses to attend IGAD (Horn of Africa) Heads of State Summit in Kampala on 18 January and snubs the host, Ugandan President Museveni and IGAD leaders who all confirmed to attend.
Abiy is dodging the IGAD summit, anticipating strong rebuke for his warmongering actions towards Somalia.
The summit will proceed without his presence.
This represents another diplomatic victory for Somalia.
BREAKING: The President of Djibouti @IsmailOguelleh and current chair of IGAD has called for an extraordinary Sunmit for the bloc’s heads of states on January 18 to discuss deteriorating diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and Somalia; and the situation in Sudan. As a Government, we have condemned and rejected the illegal infringement of Ethiopia into our national sovereignty and territorial integrity yesterday. Not an inch of Somalia can or will be signed away by anybody. Somalia belongs to the Somali people. This is final.

"I was born to Pakistani parents but grew up in London. My journey with the Quran began early, thanks to my grandma. She was the one who taught me how to read the Quran. Sometimes our lessons would last for four hours until I got it right! In 2009, a significant chapter in my life came to a close when my dear grandmother passed away. Her absence left a void, and I turned to the Quran because I knew my reading would bring her reward. Sadly, as the years passed and life grew busier, my connection with the Quran began to slip away. I tried various methods to read it daily, even resorting to my trusty iPad. I read it daily for an entire year, but then stopped again.
I then tried a second tactic which failed miserably too. I got three translations of the Quran, one for work, one for my bag, and one for home, ensuring that it was always within arm's reach. Little did I realize that the Quran had always been on my phone. I experimented with many Quran apps but found none that truly matched my needs, especially as a self-proclaimed lazy person. I thought of creating my own app, but my motivation quickly died when a developer quoted a staggering $50,000 for the project.
Then, one evening, I stumbled upon a book detailing an experiment involving three groups of people striving to incorporate more exercise into their lives. The group that achieved the most success were those who wrote down when and how much exercise they would do. I decided to re-attempt to make this app, even if it meant burning through all my savings and borrowing money from family and friends. I just wanted to make something that would help me read the Quran every day.
Three years later, the app reached over 1 million downloads.
Thousands of users now read the Quran every single day without missing a day. I pray my grandma gets the reward of every single letter read from the app. I still have to pinch myself when I go on the app and see a thousand people reading live. I pray that this story can inspire anyone reading this to bring the Quran into their everyday life, as it did for me. I genuinely cannot remember the last time I missed a day of Quran, Alhamdulillah." - Esa Khan, Founder.
Retweet this so you can inspire others to start reading Quran.
P.S. For those asking in the comments, the app is called @QuranlyApp
