@rhyselsmore@hhopk@d0nutptr "Global tables use DynamoDB Streams to replicate data across different Regions", so any property of Streams will also be true of Global Tables. https://t.co/9z2Ze3Vp9b
@rhyselsmore@hhopk@d0nutptr It looks like Amazon documents a much weaker guarantee than I stated. Ordering is preserved in single items, not whole partitions. https://t.co/h2rtUIP8rg
@norootcause Depends on whether we're talking about a node-level health check or a deployment-wide health check.
Node level: tell me about the node
Deployment wide: tell me about the whole service
@norootcause I'm having trouble seeing how the orchestrator could ever be correct. It requires an extra infrastructure component AND leaves us ignorant of what B will do when A experiences a transient failure.
@tomdooner I use it mostly read only. I like learning from people who have different perspectives from me. It's also useful for news that I wouldn't otherwise see.
Obviously it makes sense (i.e. "You've been operating at the next level for some time, so we're paying you for it"), but I think it also opens up a larger candidate pool: "We think you fit at Level X, but if you bump to X+1 we'll pay you the difference".
@wcgallego Turning instances off through their normal shutdown process, so that nothing is learned about how the system behaves under failure.
...oh, you asked for wrong answers. Oops.
SCOOP - Three years before retiring from the U.S. Army in 2017, Donald Trump-backed Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano posed in Confederate uniform for a faculty photo at the Army War College, according to a copy of the photo obtained by Reuters.
You're confusing "education" and "a degree". Or, better put: "You wasted $150,000 on an education you coulda got for $1.50 in late fees at the public library."
Baked into the discussion of student debt is the idea that the function of education is to prepare someone to work, that it is a ticket for the ride of employment. This is a dangerously toxic notion that deserves no respect. Education is learning, literally anything.
