@9mmsmg “He who knows not and knows that he knows not is a child, teach him.
He who knows and knows not that he knows is asleep, wake him.
He who knows and knows that he knows is wise, seek him.
He who knows not and knows not that he knows not is a fool, shun him.”
@EricTopol@radiology_rsna It would be interesting to see what this looks like when controlled for errors radiologists themselves inherently make, as detailed by the work of Kahneman and others (https://t.co/BwPpcxcy2e).
@michael_nielsen@SarahTheHaider To tag on, I think this is similar to the point @nntaleb makes, ie religion as a means of survival - which maybe also makes it rational. And with that, it’s important to think about what replaces religion from that angle, if secularism is indeed preferable.
@MaxCRoser I think this is one of the cases where averages skew the story. Most of the progress on age comes from decrease in infant mortality rather than increase in overall lifespans. This makes it seem like we’re living much longer while that’s not really the case.
@StuartJRitchie There’s a scene from an old Bill Murray film where he’s eating terrible food and someone warns him about clogging his arteries, and he responds saying that’s no problem as nowadays they can open them right up with a balloon.
