Government Expands Cancer Medicine Price Controls

🔸 Government has approved a cap on the margins charged in the supply and sale of non-scheduled anti-cancer drugs.

🔸 These margins will be limited to 30% of the Maximum Retail Price (MRP)

🔸 The measure is expected to reduce medicine prices by up to 70% and help cancer patients save ₹2,500 crore annually, significantly reducing the amount they pay from their own pockets

🔸 Essential #cancer medicines included in the scheduled list are already subject to strict government-set ceiling prices. The new decision extends price protection to non-scheduled cancer medicines, which are outside that list, by limiting the margins added before they reach patients

India’s Rising Supercomputing Ecosystem ✨

🔹India’s supercomputing journey has evolved from PARAM 8000 in the early 1990s to a national ecosystem under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), launched in 2015.

🔹With 40 supercomputers delivering 68 PF as of September 2026, NSM is expanding access to high-performance computing (HPC).

🔹The Mission has also developed indigenous servers, software, cooling and networking technologies, while supporting applications in Computational Biology, Weather Prediction and Climate Modelling, Disaster Management, Big Data Analytics, and Astrophysics.

A new cat species "Leopardus Tilcayo" [commonly called the Tilcayo] has been discovered in Bolivia.

It is the first time in more than a century (since 1923) that scientists have confirmed a new feline species in the world.

The species identified from the Yungas region of Bolivia.

Yungas is a rugged, lush region of steep mountains and warm, humid valleys. It sits along the eastern slopes of the Andes Mountains.

It is smaller than an average housecat and covered in leopard-like spots.
