Day 18 #100DaysOfAutomation
Today I built an upsert workflow in n8n.
The logic:
Record exists?
├─ Yes → Update it
└─ No → Create it
I tested both cases:
Existing email → status updated
New email → new row created
The lesson:
Day 17 #100DaysOfAutomation
Today I worked on the lookup-before-create pattern.
Before creating a new record:
-Search existing records
-Check a unique field like Email
If found → stop
If not found → create
New email → row added
Existing email → no duplicate created

Day 16 #100DaysOfAutomation
Duplicate data can cause duplicate actions.
Today I tested de-duplication in n8n with 3 customer records.
Two records shared the same email.
When I compared all fields, both stayed.
When I compared by Email only:
-3 items in
-2 unique items out

Day 15 #100DaysOfAutomation
Today I worked with the Merge node in n8n.
3 customer records entered:
-2 VIP
-1 Regular
An IF node split them into separate paths.
Then one Merge node brought all 3 back together before the next step.
The key principle:

Day 14 #100DaysOfAutomation
Not every workflow decision is binary.
Today I routed 4 support tickets in n8n using a Switch node:
High → Opeyemi, Sarah
Medium → Daniel
Low → Grace
The key principle:
-IF handles two-way decisions.
-Switch handles multiple defined routes.
Day 13 #100DaysOfAutomation
Not every item should take the same path.
Today I routed 4 payment records in n8n using an IF node.
Condition:
Payment
Status = Paid
Result:
True
-Opeyemi → Paid
-Daniel → Paid
False
-Grace → Unpaid
-Sarah → Unpaid
Day 12 #100DaysOfAutomation
Not every item should continue through a workflow. Today I tested filtering in n8n with 4 customer records:
Opeyemi → Active
Grace → Inactive
Daniel → Active
Sarah → Inactive
Condition:
Status = Active
Result:
2 kept.
2 discarded.
Day 11 #100DaysOfAutomation
One node processed 3 customer records today.
Not 3 nodes.
One.
I passed:
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
through one transformation step in n8n.
Output:
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
Day 10! #100DaysOfAutomation 🎉
Automation is not just about moving data from one app to another. The data must also be in the right format for the next step to use.
This is where data transformation comes in.
Today, I practised how to:
Day 8 #100DaysOfAutomation
Today was different. I finally moved from learning how n8n workflows work to actually building one myself.
I built a simple customer complaint workflow:
Day 7 #100DaysOfAutomation
I started connecting the dots between everything I've been learning and how it actually looks inside an automation tool.
I learned that in n8n, workflows are built using nodes, and each node basically has a job.
For example:

Happ new week guys!
Today is about API authentication.
The easiest way to understand it is:
Authentication → Who are you?
Authorization → What are you allowed to do?
Day 5 #100DaysOfAutomation
Today I learned about webhooks. I'd heard the word before, but I didn't really understand it.
While APIs allow systems to communicate, Webhook tells a system that something has happened.

Day 4 #100DaysOfAutomation
Today I learned about APIs.
I've heard “API” countless times, but today was the first time I actually sat down and broke one down.

Day 3 #100DaysOfAutomation
Today I learned about data mapping.
I realized connecting apps is only part of the job.

Day 2 #100DaysOfAutomation
Today I mapped an appointment booking workflow.
One thing I noticed:
A workflow isn't just about what happens when everything goes right.
You also have to think about what happens when it doesn't.

Day 1 #100DaysOfAutomation 🚀
Today I mapped out a recruitment workflow before writing a single automation.I did the whole mapping in my notebook, so I turned what I learned into an AI-generated image to make it easier to visualize.
Here’s what I learned 👇
🧵
Procrastination really is a disease.
I’ve always wanted to post consistently, but I kept overthinking it. Eventually, I realized there’s no perfect time to start.
So, I’m starting now.
Tomorrow, I begin a 100-day journey learning AI Automation and sharing what I learn here.
Day 04 of #100DaysOfAutomation 🚀
Exploring Utility Steps in Zapier: Text Formatter + Paths.
As a QA engineer, it hit me automation isn’t just about saving time… it’s about creating new opportunities.
👉 What’s one task you wish you could automate right now?
Day 6 of #100daysofAutomation: just like yesterday, I continued my tutorial. let's see what tomorrow holds
Day 4 of #100DaysofAutomation: ngl, today was hectic. Still we're here. Today I worked on extracting csv files and renaming columns.
And why is no one talking about how beautiful jupyter's inteface is 😋😋
