Thank you @CMBrookePinto. I know that neighbors in #4B07 would be very supportive of the idea of promoting residential tranquility (as well as many of the other areas Peace DC addresses), especially after several serious incidents and ongoing problematic activities in our area.
Today I am announcing my new comprehensive plan to continue to drive down crime and promote sustainable peace in the District: Peace DC, which includes:
✅ Empowering youth & strengthening neighborhood harmony by setting up young people for success and improving guardrails around deferred prosecutions
✅ Preventing violence by merging the District's violence interruption programs and improving training, oversight, and coordination
✅ Supporting our public safety workforce by creating new retention measures for police and firefighters
✅ Reducing recidivism by creating pathways for formerly incarcerated people to reenter communities with stable housing and gainful employment

Neighbors in #Lamond raised this issue at our #4B07 meeting recently. There's an ad on https://t.co/72L1VGN2OY that shows a 3BR/2BA listed as a 5BR/2BA, with rent that is double what is typical for similar properties. Landlords thumb their nose at the voucher system through deceitfulads; they receive exorbitant rents ultimately paid for by taxpayers; and then fail to adequately manage their properties. I've since sent a letter to @DC_Housing and @HUDgov asking them to investigate.
DC pays outlandishly high rates to landlords who rent to tenants with housing vouchers.
@DCAttorneyGen says in a new lawsuit that Petra Management has been gaming that system, skirting rent control rules to win big payouts, discriminating against other tenants in the process:
