The Matrix Resurrections ('21)
⭐⭐⭐
I've ruminated on #TheMatrix for 24hrs & I'm still not sure. I need another viewing. The action is a let down but the romance is not. #LanaWachowski is telling an epic love story, & that was my favourite part.

All the Creatures Were Stirring ('18)
⭐⭐
#HorrorMoviesForTheHolidays is in full swing. Sadly this anthology, although festive, isnt good. Its short so doesn't overstay its welcome & has tidy practical gore, but not much else.

Another I expected to really dislike, but again the reviews are worse than the film. Sure, it's a dreary relationship drama, and #JohnTravolta mostly hams it up, but I found it has a bit of charm.

A Love Song for Bobby Long ('04)
⭐⭐⭐½
Like NYC, New Orleans is one of my favourite film settings, it's so full of character. An unhurried drama dealing with loss, addiction, & belonging, w/ wonderful turns from #JohnTravolta & #ScarlettJohansson.

A Demon in my View ('91)
⭐⭐⭐
Little gem of a #horror this is, hunted for a while but eventually found it on YouTube. #AnthonyPerkins hams it up as a serial strangler with mummy issues, who's evaded capture for 25 years.

Disappearing Acts ('00)
⭐⭐⭐½
Relationship dramas are a tough watch, especially when the 2nd half focuses on the break-up. Im having one hell of a #WesleySnipes kick & I love the more mature, dramatic side of his acting as much as I do the Action Hero

Down in the Delta ('98)
⭐⭐⭐½
A very underseen movie from Poet & one-time film director #MayaAngelo. Ive had this film for years & it's only on my radar because #WesleySnipes has a supporting role. A touching family drama w/ excellent performances.

Ishtar ('87)
⭐⭐½
There's been some slanderous things said about #ElaineMay's comedy over the last 35yrs, so I expected the worst. It was a nice surprise, quite funny too. I have seen some awful films & this isn't one of them, great cast as well.

Passing ('21)
⭐⭐⭐½
An assured directorial debut from #RebeccaHall, with some bold creative choices and wonderful framing. A quiet, restrained film all round, led perfectly by Tessa Thompson & Ruth Negga. I'd like to see it pick up some Oscar Noms.

Titane ('21)
⭐⭐⭐½
Honestly, I think this French body-#horror is one of the most weirdly absorbing films I've ever seen, I couldn't look away even though my head was saying: what the fuck?!?. All sorts of weird. It was great.

13 Fanboy ('21)
⭐⭐
I wanted to love this #horror so much. It's littered w/ icons of the genre, & Dee Wallace, as always, is fantastic. I do admire what they tried to do, it's not the best but Im glad this little #slasher got made

Spielberg ('17)
⭐⭐⭐½
Ah, watching this was like having dinner with old friends, #Spielberg's films are a comfort. Only after they were laid out & talked about one after the other did I really appreciate how much his movies meant to me growing up.

Slumber Party Massacre ('21)
⭐⭐½
I saw raves for this, & while I appreciate the tone they were going for, it just wasn't for me. Very much a low-budget SyFy channel #horror movie w/ some brutal kills & great practical effects.

The Manor ('21)
⭐⭐⭐½
The kind of #horror that makes you think twice about putting a relative into a carehome. What @AxelleCarolyn crafted from a shoestring budget is mightily impressive, with excellent turns from the leads.

The Voices ('14)
⭐⭐⭐½
I much prefer a toned down #RyanReynolds, especially when he has that sinister edge. A sickly-dark #horror comedy that's quite hilarious. I've never written this before but - the cat stole the show.

Mikey and Nicky ('76)
⭐⭐⭐½
#ElaineMay shot almost 3× the amount of film that Gone with the Wind did, & I'd love to see the footage. Unpolished #70s rawness with a bite. #JohnCassavetes & #PeterFalk are one hell of a duo.

The Heartbreak Kid ('72)
⭐⭐⭐
I wasn't the fan of the remake & this wasn't much better. This is the 1st film I've disliked #CharlesGrodin's character. I wasn't overly enamoured w/ #NeilSimon's writing either. Saved by act 3

Fear Street: Part Three - 1666
⭐⭐⭐
All good things must come to an end & what a fitting finale for the #horror trilogy. The weakest of the bunch but w/ an awesome final act that wraps everything up neatly. More of this please

Fear Street: Part Two - 1978
⭐⭐⭐
The only problem with the way it's structured meant there were no surprises & the big 'twist' was obvious. Being a huge F13 fan I loved the setting but the strongest aspect is the characters

Fear Street: Part One - 1994
⭐⭐⭐½
Well damn. Easily my favourite of the trilogy & it does a great job of setting the tone & building the world for the sequels. Loved the characters, the #horror references & the tunes it drops
