Watch out for talks by GROCE scientists at #EGU22! For example in session CR4.3 this evening, @ReinertMarkus and Hans Burchard present their research on basal melting of glaciers in #Greenland 🇬🇱, like #79NG.

The 79°N Glacier (#79NG) is an outlet #glacier of the #Greenland 🇬🇱 ice sheet. Greenlandic glaciers unconnected to the ice sheet are called peripheral. How will their melting change in the future? 🧊 Find out in our latest news article by @shafeeque_hydro: https://t.co/IiuOxxd7V3

Have you read our latest publication about lakes on the 79°N #Glacier, so-called supraglacial lakes, by @TurtonJ1990 and co-authors already? It's published by @EGU_TC in The #Cryosphere and fully open-access, so check it out: https://t.co/npe4la72Vs #Greenland #79NG #Science

Interesting ongoing work by @WillKochtitzky on 79° North #Glacier. It appears that its #ice tongue has not melted uniformly but rather localised, while the ice extent stayed unchanged in some places. Nevertheless, overall trend caused by #GlobalWarming is clear. #79NG #science

The 4th biggest retreat in the Northern Hemisphere since 2000 occurred at #Nioghalvfjerdsfjorden (aka 79N).The terminus lost 10.4 ± 0.4 km2 per year from 2000-2020. It lost part of its ice shelf, but the ice island is still around. #MarineGlacierRetreat
