🔥Heatwaves are becoming more frequent & intense due to human-induced climate change and have become a cause for concern around the globe. The 2023 heatwave in several parts of the world reached temperatures of 53.8C in Death Valley, US and caused 200 heat deaths in Mexico alone
Arthi Ramachandran, our Special Science Project Manager, wrote an article for @WWF@WWF_Arctic where she delves into the fascinating realm of Arctic microbes and their remarkable adaptability. Read the article here: https://t.co/Bbe8LyLI1e

Great ARCTOS Colloquia @ARCTOSnetwork with invited speakers from @BAS_News (previous friends and colleges) to discuss Arctic research and collaboration opportunities. Thank you @TurtonJ1990 from @arcticfrontiers for sneak view of AF2024
Starting off a sunny Thursday in Tromsø with a talk from @Michelle_McCrys at @Framcentre. Not such a sunny outlook for snowfall in the Arctic by 2100 though!
On Monday, I was invited to provide evidence to the UK Parliament's Environmental Audit Sub-Committee on Polar Research. The specific topic: Arctic science and research. 1/4
It was an exciting insight into the workings of the committees and the role of science in guiding policy. I was surprised by the enthusiasm and interest of the MPs. Let's see what the outcome is! Hopefully secure funding for Arctic science in the UK and beyond! 4/4
There were many many questions and it lasted almost 2 hours. Was great to also hear from the expertise and opinions of @JamesMLea@AndyShep_CPOM and Geraint Tarling from @BAS_News 3/4
