๐ Day 58 of #90DaysOfDevOps โ
Today I explored Kubernetes Metrics Server and Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA) to understand how Kubernetes automatically scales applications based on real CPU usage. I installed the Metrics Server, monitored resource usage with kubectl top, deployed a CPU-intensive application with resource requests, created an HPA using both imperative commands and the autoscaling/v2 API, generated load to trigger automatic scaling, and learned how HPA behavior controls scale-up and scale-down policies. This was a great hands-on exercise in building self-healing, scalable Kubernetes workloads and understanding how resource metrics drive autoscaling decisions.

๐ Day 55 of #90DaysOfDevOps โ Today I learned one of the most important Kubernetes concepts: Persistent Volumes (PV) & Persistent Volume Claims (PVC)! ๐ฆ
Containers are ephemeral, but production applications like databases need persistent storage. In today's hands-on lab, I explored the difference between temporary (emptyDir) storage and persistent storage using PVs & PVCs. I created static and dynamic volumes, understood StorageClasses, verified volume binding, and confirmed that data survives Pod deletion and recreation. This topic is a must-know for anyone preparing for Kubernetes, CKA, CKAD, or DevOps interviews.
I also created a detailed handwritten cheat sheet to simplify these concepts for beginners and anyone revising Kubernetes storage. Hope it helps others on their DevOps journey! ๐

I put my Kubernetes networking knowledge into practice today! ๐
Day 53 of #90DaysOfDevOps โ Kubernetes Services
One of the biggest challenges in Kubernetes is that Pods are ephemeralโtheir IP addresses change whenever they're recreated. That's where Services come in, providing a stable network endpoint, built-in service discovery, and load balancing across Pods.
Today's hands-on tasks included:
โ
Deploying an Nginx application with 3 replicas
โ
Exposing it using ClusterIP, NodePort, and LoadBalancer Services
โ
Verifying Pod-to-Service communication from inside the cluster
โ
Exploring Kubernetes DNS (service-name.namespace.svc.cluster.local)
โ
Understanding why EXTERNAL-IP remains <pending> on local clusters and how cloud providers provision LoadBalancers
โ
Comparing real-world use cases for each Service type and cleaning up resources
This session made Kubernetes networking much clearer. Understanding how applications communicate inside and outside the cluster is a key step toward building production-ready Kubernetes applications.
๐ I've documented all my notes, YAML manifests, commands, and explanations in my GitHub repository. Check it out and feel free to share your suggestions or feedbackโthey're always welcome!

๐ Day 51 of #90DaysOfDevOps | Kubernetes just got real! โธ๏ธ
Today I stopped just learning Kubernetes concepts and started deploying my first Pods from scratch using YAML manifests. I explored the anatomy of a Kubernetes manifest (apiVersion, kind, metadata, and spec), deployed Nginx and BusyBox Pods, compared Declarative vs Imperative approaches, validated manifests with --dry-run, worked with labels & selectors, and learned why standalone Pods aren't used in production.
Every small step makes Kubernetes feel less intimidating and more practical. ๐ก
๐ I've also documented everything with detailed notes, commands, examples, and explanations. Check out my GitHub repository for the complete Day 51 notes and follow along with my DevOps journey!

๐ Day 49 of #90DaysOfDevOps ๐
Today I took my CI/CD pipeline one step further by making it secure by default. Instead of only building and deploying, my pipeline now performs automated security checks before code reaches production. ๐ก๏ธ
โ
Trivy Docker Image Scanning
โ
GitHub Secret Scanning & Push Protection
โ
Dependency Review for Pull Requests
โ
Least-Privilege Workflow Permissions
Every PR is now checked for vulnerable dependencies, every Docker image is scanned for CVEs, secrets are protected, and deployments only continue when security checks pass. That's the essence of DevSecOpsโbuilding security into the development lifecycle instead of treating it as an afterthought. ๐
๐ป I'd love your feedback!

๐ Day 47 of #90DaysOfDevOps | Mastering Advanced GitHub Actions Triggers โก
Today I explored how to build more intelligent and event-driven CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
โ
Pull Request lifecycle events (opened, reopened, synchronize, closed)
โ
PR validation checks (branch naming, file size & PR description)
โ
Scheduled workflows using Cron expressions
โ
Path & branch filters for smarter workflow execution
โ
Chaining workflows with workflow run
โ
Triggering workflows externally using repository dispatch and GitHub CLI
One of my favorite learnings today was triggering a GitHub Actions workflow from an external event and passing custom JSON payloadsโsomething that's widely used in real-world CI/CD pipelines.
Every day I'm getting one step closer to becoming a better DevOps Engineer through consistent hands-on practice.
