#MaaSiddhidatri #NavratriRecipes #9NightsOfDevi
Maa Siddhidatri adorns the 9th day of Navratri, with peacock green color, which manifest grace, integrity and watchfulness. Here in South India we celebrate this day as #Saraswathipooja or #AyudhaPooja
..which is regarded as a meaningful custom that emphasizes the importance of one’s profession and its tools. At home or at our Office, we do Pooja to every tool that makes our life helpful and easy, scissors, knives, spanners, computer, TV, musical instruments and even our study books and pens .. practically anything that helps us perform our day.
We keep chandan and kumkum to each tool and offer our gratitude to these ones that facilitate our daily life. Flowers or garland are also offered.
We make neivedhyam, vada, payasam, sundal and other food items and offer everything to Devi. Also fruits and coconuts are offered and we give thamboolam (auspicious items that symbolize blessings and good fortune) to neighbors and family members.
Happy Navratri!

#NavratriRecipes #MaaMahagauri #Purple #9NightsOfDevi
The 8th day of Navratri or #Ashtami is for Maa Mahagauri, with purple color, which epitomizes opulence, nobility, and power.
Am not going to search for purple color ingredient or food item today! We will make a simple fruit kesari recipe as neivedhyam.
Fruit kesari recipe with fresh apple, pineapples, raisins and cashew nuts, cooked with ghee makes it a rich dessert to share with friends and family!
Preparation Method:
Chop few pieces of apple and pineapple and keep aside. Heat a pan with ghee add some cashews, just give it a stir. Add 5/6 raisins and stir in medium flame until it gets bloated fully. Add rava and roast until the raw smell goes off. Boil water side by side and add it to the roasted rava. Add little salt at this stage and mix well until it gets thick in consistency. Cook covered in low flame.
Add sugar and mix until its watery. Add the fruits and mix well. Keep mixing until the kesari starts leaving its sides and transfer to the serving bowl.
Happy Navratri!

#NavratriRecipes #maakatyayani #Green #9NightsOfDevi
The 6th day of Navratri is adorned by Maa Katyayani, with green as the color of the day. Green is associated with new beginnings. It evokes a sense of fertility and growth.
Today we will use green moong or pachai payiru as we call in Tamil and make a yummy Green Moong Payasam as neivedhyam or prasadam.
Highly rich in protein, folate, fibre and flavonoids, moong dhal is an easy to cook ingredient in our kitchen. The moon sprouts are one the best foods for health!
Pachai Payaru Payasam Recipe is simple and quick to make. Boil the green moong dhal. Extract and keep some coconut milk. Boil jaggery in some water, strain and keep aside.
Mix the moong dhal into the creamy smooth coconut milk, and flavor it with a pinch of cardamom powder. Pour into this mixture the jaggery syrup, garnish with cashew nuts and dried grapes fried in ghee.
Serve it hot or cold !

#NavratriRecipes #MaaBrahmacharini #White #AvalPayasam #9NightsOfDevi
Today on the 2nd day of Navratri devotees worship Maa Brahmacharini. This day is associated with the color White. We shall seek the blessings of this ferocious avatar of Goddess Durga by offering her kheer or payasam as prasad.
Easy to make, today is Poha or Aval payasam as a desert prasad. 😋
Poha / aval payasam ingredients
2 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
5 cashew / kaju (halves)
2 tsp raisins / kishmish
½ cup poha / aval / flattened rice
3 cup coconut milk
¼ cup jaggery / gud
¼ cup water
¼ cardamom powder / elachi powder
Procedure
Wash/dissolve/drain jaggery & stir well- keep aside and cool it. Sauté aval in ghee till light brown, roast cashew & raisins till they turn plump. Mildly heat the coconut milk, add the aval & allow to cook until thick consistency. Remove from stove, add jaggery syrup & garnish with elaichi/nuts/raisins. Add few more dollops of ghee if you wish!
P.s - if sugar is used the aval payasam comes out white, but since we used jaggery, the color turns out as mild goldenish as below 🧡
Happy Navratri!
