The CA Alliance is proud to support #AB236, tackling the issue of “ghost networks” in CA's health plans. Inaccurate provider directories harm access to care, especially in behavioral health. This bill mandates verified, accurate online directories with phased accuracy goals:
60% accurate by 7/1/2025
80% accurate by 7/1/2026
90% accurate by 7/1/2027
95% accurate by 7/1/2028

Today Asm Health Committee passed #AB236 (@ChrisHoldenNews) 10-1, an important health consumer bill to maintain accurate health plan provider directories that Californians rely on to find up-to-date in-network providers.
California consumers assume their provider keeps their directories up to date. This is not the case across the board. #CALeg must pass #AB236 (by @ChrisHoldenNews) to help Californians like Lynn get the access to care that they need. @AsmVillapudua
LGBTQ+ folx already have a difficult time finding affirming health providers. Ghost networks cause even more confusion and delay in accessing care when consumers search for a provider through outdated network directories, #AB236 would help fix that.
