@Hyper_lexic Don't know if there's a standard formula. Last year a proposed bill, #AB3040, would have standardized it at 10 lots rezoned for 4plexes = 1 unit towards meeting RHNA requirements. Basically it assumed 1 in 30 lots would be redeveloped in next 8 years. https://t.co/xyuxsW24UR

#AB3040 will incentivize housing production by giving cities extra RHNA credits for upzoning single family neighborhoods to allow for fourplexes.

@davidbaron @graue @DavidChiu #AB3040 factors this in, it assumes only a fraction of oneplexes will become 2-4plexes for the purpose of counting how much credit towards housing goals a rezone gets. It does give additional credit if a city has policy to accelerate conversions. https://t.co/5hx5pCGJv9

The state requires cities to zone for new homes, using the Regional Housing Needs Allocation (#RHNA) process. #AB3040 from @DavidChiu encourages cities to rezone single family houses to allow duplexes/triplexes/fourplexes, by allowing it to count towards meeting RHNA goals. 17/
