This is a good time to remind everyone that Price’s term is SIX YEARS due to a quirk in a new law.

No, the Los Angeles County sheriff elected Nov. 8, either Alex Villanueva or Robert Luna, will NOT serve a 6-year term. Lots of confusion out there on this point.
#AB759 moves California sheriff elex to presidential elex years.
But it doesn't apply in L.A.
1️⃣5️⃣ Newsom SIGNED a bill to move most* DA-sheriff races from midterm to presidential years, for higher turnout. #AB759
This means ppl already elected this year will serve *6* years rather than 4, weirdly. https://t.co/bzOgkvqwPr
(*SF, LA, Santa Clara, San Bernadino exempted)

Yes on #AB759 “Democracy is strongest when our representatives are chosen at elections with the highest rates and broadest diversity of voter turnout,” @ocregister DAs and sheriffs elected in 2022 would get an extra 2 years in office under state bill https://t.co/dnVYfr2qJc
Looking through a list of bills which could impact counties and I came across #AB759. It would force the sheriff + other county offices to be elected in presidential years. To make the change those elected in 2022 would either have 2 or 6 year terms. Why is this change needed?
