This all was triggered by someone saying it is a privilege to be diagnosed as a child.
You have no idea.
You were not diagnosed as a child and have no idea the type of abuse we went through.
You can say "in a perfect world" what you'd imagine.
But thats not the reality here.
Ableism and denial are driving the push for “no more sick leave” policies.
Ironically, those same attitudes will eventually erode the very reality they’re trying to preserve.
It happens one infection at a time.
If you’ve ever wondered why so many scientists who understand the risks don’t publicly mask, consider the incentives. They know they’re not immune. But prevention doesn’t earn the same rewards as fitting in.
TV appearances. International keynote invitations. Institutional promotions. Leadership positions. Grants. Awards. Interviews.
The people pushing prevention often receive the opposite treatment.
They’re left out of institutional videos. Passed over for visibility. Quietly moved to the back of the line.
That’s what happens when a culture rewards managing the consequences more than preventing the harm.
