The #ABLS24 poster winner isβ¦
Louis Coussement of @ugent! Congratulations π
Louis unveils research delving into the molecular control of pluripotency in human embryonic cells over two weeks, unveiling a synchronized transcriptional clock through innovative computational methods, shedding light on early development's timing and molecular mechanisms.

π’The very last talk of the amazing #ABLS24 @VIBLifeSciences conference. @sokrypton enthusiastically explains the use of protein language models to better understand protein structures and their interacting residues. A fitting conclusion, full of knowledge and entertainment!

@jasperzuallaert @VIBConferences @janani_hex Last talk in which @sokrypton walks us through what (some of the commonly used) protein language models really learn - and what theyβre still missing π
#abls24 @VIBConferences

Unlocking the mysteries of protein-ligand complexes is important for disease understanding and treatment, as well as improving drug discovery. That is why @janani_hex dedicated her insightful talk to describing current methods and innovations used to solve this problem. #ABLS24

@jasperzuallaert @VIBConferences We recharged βοΈ πͺ π and now @janani_hex is sharing new developments and challenges within protein-ligand interaction modelling π
#abls24 @VIBConferences

@jasperzuallaert telling us about the importance of experimental biases making their way into ML models, in this case PTM mass spec data π
#abls24 @VIBConferences

The next #ABLS24 poster video is from Aurora Pierucci from @KU_Leuven. Her research focuses on designing artificial Ξ±/Ξ² propeller proteins with enhanced stability and self-assembly capabilities. Interested to hear more? Watch it here π₯
Now @befcorreia talks about the π in the room (of protein design) - and successes from small binders to large solubilised proteins π
#ABLS24 @VIBConferences

Last session opens with @ferruz_noelia showing cool new models to capture proteins, including validation experiments π§ͺ and approaches to translate between chemistry and biology π
#ABLS24 @VIBConferences

Preeti Choudhary (@preeti_cy) from @PDBeurope talks about finding enriched data for drugs, #antibiotics, and other small #molecules in #PDBe. Watch what she has to say about it in this #ABLS24 poster video π₯
Another super interesting talk during #ABLS24. Understanding brain cancer is no easy feat. @bayraktar_lab focuses on identifying cellular trajectories and transcriptional programs to understand the spatial and cellular architecture of glioblastoma.

Another great talk, this time by @thalexandrov. He explains how we can detect and interpret metabolic cell states using spatial and single cell metabolomics by combining mass spectrometry and machine learning methods. #ABLS24

This was a very interesting talk by @shazanfar on leveraging mosaic integration to combine different data features and optimize insights from single cell and spatial omics across datasets. #ABLS24

πThe first talk of the second day of #ABLS24 was already a success! @ahmedElkoussy shared his impressive work on using #Bioinformatics approaches such as Hierarchical Progressive Learning and protein embeddings to learn cell identities across single cell datasets.

An amazing first day of #ABLS24 with exhilarating talks! @sara_mostafavi's presentation about deep learning models of gene regulation and immune cell differentiation was very inspiring! The scientific part is over for today, and now the discussions will continue during the conference dinner. See you tomorrow!

The last for today at #ABLS24 but definitely not the least! π@sara_mostafavi takes us along on her journey into contrastive deep learning models to predict the link between sequence variation and gene expression, necessary for interpreting personal genomes. π§¬

Next @Joana_MPereira shines light on the yet unexplored protein universe. This is unbelievable cool and shows just how much the field has been advancing at lightning speed in a few years time #ABLS24 @VIBConferences
